  1. The National Education Museum’s governing document is the Charity Commission’s standard form constitution for a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) and is dated 10th February 2018.

  2. The objects of the Charity are to advance the education of the public by the establishment and maintenance of a museum and educational facility relating to the development of educational provision in England and Wales and elsewhere.

  3. During the period of this report the Trustees have been working hard to make progress towards their objective of establishing a National Education Museum for England and Wales. New developments in the period include:

  4. A) The Trustees appointed Laura Watford, co-founder of STEMunity, to the board in January 2025. Her appointment has brought new ideas and expertise to strengthen the Trustee board. Laura is based in Portsmouth but travels widely in the UK related to her work. She has excellent IT skills and knowledge. For example, Laura made a lively and expertly produced video of a children’s

activity event at the Aspex Gallery in Portsmouth prior to the NEM’s Fred Jarvis Memorial lecture on June 1[st] 2024.

funds should be held in two bank accounts, one of them an interest earnings savings account.

1. Accounting Polices

Though of limited relevance to the accounts for the current period the principal accounting policies adopted by the Charity are as follows:

The accounts of the Charity are prepared on the historical cost basis and are in accordance with applicable United Kingdom accounting standards, The Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting by Charities issued in March 2005.

All incoming resources are included in the Statement of Financial Activities when the Charity is entitled to, and virtually certain to receive, the income and the amount can be quantified with reasonable accuracy. The following policies are applied to particular categories of income:
