Objectives and Activities

Summary of the purposes of the charity as set out in its governing document	Para 1.17	The charity was set up to give shelter and protection to children who became orphans during a historical war. It has continued to provide this care to boys who warrant it.

Para 1.17 and 1.19	House of Caring works towards the relief of poverty and hardship amongst orphans and other vulnerable children in Sierra Leone in particular. We do this by providing financial and practical support, including education and shelter.

The local community and general public at large have benefited from the work that we do directly with the boys.

Achievements and Performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole.	Para 1.20	Together with the parent body in the USA, we maintain an orphanage that is fully staffed and cares for eight boys. Successful virtual fundraiser was done Solar panels and a water borehole were installed. Since moving to the new premises in the same locality, the community have welcomed the boys quite well. The interaction is reciprocal. The charity bears the cost of the water bill, as it allows neighbours to get free, clean water from the home. The boys have formed a football team, who are part of a league.

Performance of fundraising activities against objectives set	Para 1.41	There were plans to hold two fundraising activities in the form of a luncheon sale and a quiz night. Unfortunately one venue cancelled at the last minute and we could not find a replacement at a reasonable cost, so the activity had to be cancelled. Our objectives were not met.
