December 2021. This coincided with the
graduation of all of the residents except
three who had another year to go before
graduation. It was decided that the three
boys would stay with relatives, but continue
to be supported by HOCSL.
The building that was in progress last year,
was successfully completed in April 2022
and the first residents moved in in
September 2022. The period between April
and September was used to source
members of staff, prepare the home and
recruit residents through the Ministry of
Gender and Children’s affairs. Nine boys
under the age of ten were selected.
Although our numbers are small, the
impact on the community is great. It gets
children out of poverty, provides shelter,
education and nurturing in a caring
environment. The burden on relatives who
are alreadyoverstretched,is also relieved.|
