Summary of the Year 23124

SilPPOrt in Scotland we have recruited a Families
Engagement Officer for RM Condor. part funded by the
Royal Marines A5s00ation-The Royal Marines Charity.
We have also engaged with the Comrnodore Royal
Fleet Auxiliary to explore how Y4e might support RFA
familie5.
FY23124 has been a busy year for the charity as we
have irnplemented and brought to practical application
major decisions taken last year, as well as rnalurin9
of our intemal organisation and supporting familie5
thovgh some thallenging and difficult issues ￿￿th MOD.
The major review of comrnunications, reported last
year. saw a new outsourced contract with Buzzword
to manage website. social media, digital. and our
Major hard-ccpy route5. The contract has seen a most
$1gnificant improvement in our 50001 media presen
and a muth more on4rand approath to all our oirtput.

to manage thè impact of Service life is. of course.
our primary role and therefore good comprehensive
communications are vf(al. This has included a major
review of otJr'Homeport' Magazine, which has seen a

This has proved to be very popular especially the

It has been disappointing to see the lack of resource
placed by MOD in the implernentation team of the
UK Am)ed Forces Families Strategy and in our view.
pro9￿&5 is disappointing. These issues have been
raised with our sister family federations when briefing
thè Defeno Select C(Nnmtttee or Ministers.
The new KPI and review arrangement foT our Grant in
Aid with MODINI has provèd to be a Significant benefit
of our extended GIA negotiations last year. Royal Na
Head of People Support. People & Training D1￿ctorate
now attends trustee meeting5 a5 3 Senior advisor and
has full access to all NFF materials. This has meant that
we have a much better understanding ol what policies
the RN/MoD is considering. and the RN has a much
better idea of how the NFF 5UPPOrt5 families.
The alignment of NFF business Wth the UK Armed
Forces Family Strategy has proved to be highly effecbve
and as we build our datasets in that way. enables us to
produce cogent. evidence-based cases for the MOD
and other major stakeholdets. Throughout the year
guidance and support to non-UK nationals has been
major Source of work and we are delighted to report
that our second Immigration advi50r, Sophie Raza, has
worked her socks off to become qualthed and take on
an ènhanced support to non-UK naval personnel and
their families.

The NFF is established under a constttution as a
Charitable Incorporated Organisation ICIOI Foundation
charity. reg15teréd with the Charity Cornmission on

Govemance is exercised by a board of trustees. the
members of which are selected and appointed by the
harity's existing trustees having given ￿gard to the
skills. knowledge and experience needed. Members
are appointed by a resolution of the trustees then in
post. The trustees meet four times a year.
On appointment, new trustee5 are provided with
a copy of the charrtys constitution, the latest set of
accounts. the NFF Strategic Baseline Document and
a copy of the Charity Commission's guidance CC3
(The Essential Trvsteel. They are offered an Induction
Day at Head Office the NFF team to leam abotrt
the tharitys activities. Al new trustees are offered
training. and their expenses are paid by the charty.
Ongoing training and update5 are provtded by

in the military tharity.
Trustees keep under ￿VIeW and ensure practtces
adopted by the tharity are in line with the Charitys

~Please be assured that we are working alongside
both the Army and RAF Families Federations to
ensure that views from families across the Services
are represented. We have all p￿ented evidence to
.the Defènee Select Committee around the ongoing
issues pertaining to the rn3terial state of Service
Family Accommodation ISFAI. and highlighted
our concems on a regular basis, to the Ministry
of Defencè, RN People Team and tn person with
the Minister of Defence People around the lack of
availability of both SFA and accommodation in the
private rental 5ertry. For some time, we have worked
alongside the MOD Accommodation Policy team
to shape the Future Accommodation Model that
underpins a number of thange5.
We continue to gather evidence on this matter by
listening to our families and understsnding the
impact on all naval personnel to ensure a balanced
vivw. The widening of ents"tlement was welcomed
by a large number of naval personnel but who
are now left wth uncertainty and angst as the

Accommodation Offer IMAOI is paused, and they
wart for new policy announcements to be released.
