## **TRUSTEE STATEMENT** 

## **OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES:** 

The charity is governed by a constitution and is constituted as a charitable incorporated organisation. Glory Church is situated in a busy urban town centre location supporting an area of much need and a rich diverse community. The charity’s principal objects as set out in its governing document are: 

·�The advancement of the Christian Religion 

·�To train and educate interested individuals in the Christian faith 

·�To love and serve the people of our community whatever their background 

## **Public benefit:** 

The trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission in relation to public benefit and believe that all the activities of the charity comply. 

## **Staffing:** 

The small team of staff and volunteers work together to provide the very best for all those who come into contact with the charity. 

## **General:** 

Glory Church has undergone a period of rapid growth over the past year both in numbers attending the church and the support this has enabled the church to offer out in the community. 

## **Looking back over the year:**

A very successful year for Glory Church CIO with much expansion of the work. The trustees oversaw: 

·�The growth of the congregation 

·�Renovation and upgrading of the church building 

·�New playdays for children 

·�Work with local university students 

·�Support groups for mental health 

·�Hosted a jobs club to support those needing help to find work 

·�Formed the Prayer Army Network bringing together Christians from the UK to pray for the nation 

## **Looking forward March 2025 – February 2026:** 

The trustees hope to: 

·�Enable the Prayer Army Network to hold four open prayer events and regular online prayer sessions 

·�Renovate and open the Community Café 

- ·�Increase staff and volunteers 

## **Financial Position::** 

During the year income increased by £11,707 to £119,393, and expenditure increased by £34,600 to £126,803. As a result the cash held by the charity decreased by £7,015 to £13,511 of which £13,511 is unrestricted and can be used for any charitable purpose. 

## **Reserves policy:** 

The charity is controlled by its governing document and constitutes as a charitable incorporated organisation. 

## **Recruitment and appointment of trustees:** 

All charity trustees appointed must have regard to the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIO. 

## **Responsibilities of trustees:**

## **1. ACCOUNTING POLICIES** 

## **Basis of preparing the financial statements** 

The financial statements of the charitable company, which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102, have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP (FRS 102) 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2015)', Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland' and the Companies Act 2006. The financial statements have been prepared under the  historical cost convention. 

Glory Church is an incorporated charity, registered in England and Wales. 

The charity's number and registered office address can be found on the Company Information page 

## **Income** 

All income is recognised in the Statement of Financial Activities once the charity has entitlement to the funds, it is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably. 

## **Expenditure** 

Liabilities are recognised as expenditure as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the charity to that expenditure, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all cost related to the category. Where costs cannot be directly attributed to particular headings they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of resources. 

## **Fund Accounting** 

Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discretion of the trustees. Restricted funds can only be used for particular restricted purposes within the objects of the charity. Restrictions arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for particular restricted purposes.Further explanation of the nature and purpose of each fund is included in the notes to the financial statements.
