Governance and management
The charity is operated under the rules of its CIO Foundation constitution adopted
20th November 2017.
Our trustees are proposed from our wide circle of volunteers, approved and voted for
at committee meetings, and recruited if acceptable to all existing trustees.
Each trustee must be appointed for a term of 3 years by a resolution passed at a
properly convened meeting of the charity trustees.
In selecting individuals for appointment as charity trustees, the trustees must
have regard to the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective
administration of the CIO.
The charity trustees will make available to each new charity trustee, on or before his
or her first appointment-
(a) a copy of the current version of this constitution., and
{b> a copy of the CIO'S latest Trustees, Annual Report and statement of accounts.
Objectives and activities
To further or benefit the residents of Beeston Rylands and the neighbourhood,
without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or
other opinions by associating together the said residents and the local
authorities, voluniary and other organisations in a common effort to advance
education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation
and leisure time occupation with the objective of improving the conditions of life
for the residents.

In furtherance of these objects but not othemise, the trustees shall have power..
To establish or secure the establishment of a community centre and to maintain
or manage or co-operate with any statutory authority in the maintenance and
management of such a centre for activities promoted by the charity in furtheran
of the above objects.
We are a community association that exists to manage and run Beeston Rylands
Community Centre, and the newly acquired Plessey Centre. BRCA develop and
provide programmes and activities that improve the lives of local people in Beeston
Rylands and the surrounding environs.
Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit
Currently BRCA provide the following weekly groups-
A boxing and fitness club for 11-16-year-olds',
A seated yoga and relaxation class for residents who want to regain mobility.,
A social lea and coffee morning where all residents can attend and meet
others,.
Friday Club: A social dining club for over 60s'
Fusion: A club for HKBNO residents over 60.,
MahJong Club.
On a monthly basis we hold a board games club, and a beginners MahJong club
each once per month.
The centres are also used for adult dance, martial arts, a healthy living group, Mum's
Choir, Beeston Voices, Dog Training, Ballroom Dancing. and private hire for events.
Alongside this BRCA provide a programme of events for the community throughout
the year.
Events over the last year include= Indoor Table Top Sales, Lunar New Year
Celebration, Spring Community Day. Autumn Fair. Mid Autumn Lantern Festival,
Christmas Fair. BRCA ran visits to local places of interest, such as garden centres,
boat trips, theatre trips and shopping trips with subsidised transport provided.
Public benefit statement
These activities reach the most disadvantaged within our community.
We aim to reduce social isolation of our elderly population, and develop emotional
literacy and resilience within our younger population.
We run the community centre in a way that makes it available for use by as many
individuals, groups and societies as possible.
We run diverse and inclusive subsidised events that do not discriminate any part of
our community.
BRCA provide activities for the HKBNO residents to mix and become part of the
community.

The Trustees confirm that they have complied with the duty in section 17 of the
Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission's general guidance
on public benefit. 'Charities and Public Benefit,.
Summary of the maln achievements during the period
Since April 2024 BRCA have been looking to increase the use of both community
spaces. Firstly to increase the number of groups BRCA run for Ihe benefit of the
community, and secondly to increase private hire of the groups by regular hirers and
occasional hirers to build upon our revenue. BRCA have been suGcessful in both
Gounts. At the end of March 2024 BRCA were running 5 groups, at the end of March
2025 BRCA are running 9 groups. Hirer incnme at end of March 2024 was £23,246
and end March 2025 was £34,030.
Another of our aims as a charity is to run large events for the community. During the
year BRCA have run the followng: spring ComTnunily Day, ABC Arts festival ovcr 2
days, Chestnut Fair, Chinese Mid Autumn Festival, Christmas Fair, Community
Christmas Dinnor, Lungr Ngw Year Festival. two iable top sales in February and
MarGh. These events have brought together members of the community and
encouraged community cohesion. BRCA raises a small amount of funds from these
events. Volunteers are key in the organlsation ol Ihese events and BRCA could
not run these events wilhout their continued support.
BRCA continua to gupport and train vnlunteers and members of the community. 10
Volunteers completed their Food Hygiene Level 2 and allergen training. BRCA began
to work alongside Prostart Training lo offer an Events Apprentice Level 3 position,
which was filled in November 2024. This scheme will run until May 2026
The charity's policy on r8sArvos
We require resetwes of £3,000 to pay wages and to cover any emergency repair to
the hall, reviewad monthly. We have a Community Development OffI￿r who
constantly applies for funding to cover our expenses.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of Beeston Rylands
Community Association (the charity) for the year ended 31 March 2024.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the trustees of the charity you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts
in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act,).
I report in respect of my examination of the Charity's accounts carried out under
section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all
the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5){bl of
the Act.
Independent examiner's statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no matters have come to my
attention in connection with the examination givir)g me cause to believe that in any
material respect=
1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by
section 130 of the Act- or
2. the accounts do not accord with those records.
I have no concems and have come across no other matters in connection with the
examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a
proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

Name.. CCTV Fund, Purpose: To install cameras at the Leyton Crescent Site
Name.. BBC Utility Grant, Purpose- A grant provided to pay for utilities during the
winter months to provide a warm space for the public to use. A deficit is carried
forward due to more funding being due.
Name.. Defib Grant, Purpose.. To provide a defibrillator.
Name.. L C Refurb Grant. Purpose: To repair and refresh the Leyion Crescent Community
Centre. last updated in 2018. Years of regular use has left the building tired and essential
maintenance is needed to restore and modernise the space so it remains a safe, welcoming
hub for the community.
Name.. Sport England Grant, Purpose.. to help the Leyton CreS￿nt Community Centre run
both existing and new physical activity groups. The support will expand opportunities for
local people to get active, stay healthy, and connect through sport and fitness.
Name.. Fitter Sitters, Purpose= To ensure that through fundraising this group has
sufficient funds to continue running at the subsidised rate.
Name.. HK Grant, Purpose.. To pay the salary of the HK Link Worker and set up costs
of the Hong Kong groups.
