Our trustees are proposed from our wide circle of volunteers, approved and voted for at committee meetings, and recruited if acpIable to all existing trustees. Each trustee must be appointed for a term of 3 years by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the charity trustees. In selecting individuals for appointment as charity trustees, the trustees must have regard to the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIO. The charity trustees will make available to each new charity trustee, on or before his or her first appointment: {a} a copy of the current version of this constitution., and {b) a copy of the CIO'S latest Trustees, Annual Report and statement of accounts. Objectives and activities To further or benefit the residents of Beeston Rylands and the neighbourhood, without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions by associating together the said residents and the local authorities, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the residents.
Beeston Rylands Community Association In furtherance of these objects but not OtheiSe, the trustees shall have power.. To establish or secure the establishment of a community centre and to maintain or manage or co-operate with any statutory authority in the maintenance and management of such a centre for activities promoted by the charity in furtherance of the above objects. We are a community association that exists to manage and run Beeston Rylands Community Centre, and the newly acquired Plessey Centre. BRCA develop and provide programmes and activities that improve the lives of local people in Beeston Rylands and the surrounding environs. Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit Currently BRCA provide the following weekly groups= A boxing and fitness club, and a dance club for 11-16 year-olds. A seated yoga and relaxation class for residents who want to regain mobility- A social tea and coffee morning where all residents can attend and meet others. A social dining club for over 60s. Fusion.. A club for HKBNO residents over 60. Mah-jong Club. Fit and Well - for HKBNO residents. The centres are also used for adult dance, martial arts, a healthy living group, Mum's Choir, Beeston volS, Dog Training, Ballroom Dancing, and private hire for events. Alongside this BRCA provide a programme of events for the community throughout the year. Events over the last year include.. indoor and outdoor car boot sales, Summer Gala Day, Autumn Fair, Christmas Fair. BRCA ran visits to local places of interest, such as garden centres, boat trips and shopping trips with subsidised transport provided. Public benefit ststement These activities reach the most disadvantaged within our community. We aim to reduce social isolation of our elderly population, and develop emotional literacy and resilience within our younger population. We run the community centre in a way that makes it available for use by as many individuals, groups and societies as possible. We run diverse and inclusive subsidised events that do not discriminate any part of our community. BRCA provide activities for the HKBNO residents to mix and become part of the community. The Trustees confim that they have complied with the duty in section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit, 'Charities and Public Benefit,.
Beeston Rylands Community Association Summary of the main achievements during the period BRCA look ownership uf Llie iiew Plessey Centre on 3010a12023. Thi8 additional community centrc will enable BRCA to expand their offer and provision to the community. Through Fundraising BKGA were able lo turn this bulldlng Into a social centre for the community. This involved re configuring the kitchen and upgrading to meet commcrcial standards, and fumishing the entire centre. The Centr@ openF.hd Officially in October 2023 and has been hosting clubs and events since this time. Phase 1 now complete, over the next year BRCA will continue to fundraise and finish Phasc 2 of the centre davelopment. SiriLe Ili¥ filsl event at the Ple5sey Centre in September 2023 we havc run community days (ABC Arts Trail, Christmas fair, Toddler sale, Spring Fair), p.qt2blished weekly sessions for local HKBNO resldents (Fusion Clubl M<ili-jong Clubl Language classe51 Work in The UK Classe3) end providcd a venue for groups of community int8r8st (Ballroom dancing, Indoor Bowls, Choir, Thp2trp Group. Fitness and Health Group). BRCA have now employed a cleaner for 8 Hours per week to manage the Gleaning of the new centre. BRCA continue to run clubs at the Leyton Crescent Centre. Friday Club is popular with new members joining. Ses3ion8 average 28 peron weekly. Fittgr Sitters has a160 had an incroase in members. from 8 members wp.pkly tn 10 attending now. The Christmas Fair was held at the Plessey Centre this year. These events help to rai80 the profile of BRCA, engage with thp rnmmiinity 2nd raise funds. A Spring fair was also hei(J at Ihe Plessey Centre. BRCA continue to run trips. These arp. opp.n to members of BRCA dubs. friends and volunteers. Thls flnancial year 4 Iripb luvk ylaGe, a boal trip, a garden centre trip, a day out on a steam railway and a visit to Skegnos8. Hire of the community ntre by regular clubs and private hirers continues to increase and this regular income helps with the costs of running the centre and salary of the Facilitipq nffip.pr. This past Financial Year BRCA have racaived funding to work with thè HKBNO residents who havp. 2 large presen( In the Beeston area. we have employed a HK Link Worker part time to set up and run clubs for this group. We have been SUCCCfUl in running community days that bring the residents together. Independent examiner's report to the trustees of Beeston Rylands Community Association for the year ended 31 March 2024 I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of Beeston Rylands Community Association (the charity) for the year ended 31 March 2024. Responsibilities and basis of report As the trustees of the charity you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act,). I report in respect of my examination of the charity's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. Independent examiner's statement I have completed my examination. I confirm that no matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: 1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act- or 2. the accounts do not accord with those records. I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached. Beeston Rylands Community Association The transfer from the General fund to the NPC Centre and Warm Spa$ funds are to cover the deficits on these activities. The CCTV Fund comprises funding towards installing cameras at the Leyion CreSnt Site. The Youth club salary fund comprises funding towards salary costs. The Youth club activities fund comprises funding towards activity costs. The Youth Dance fund comprises funding towards a dance group for young people. The NPC Centre fund comprises funding towards the cost of new kitchen equipment to be in the new Plessey Centre. The Fitters Sitters fund comprises funding towards a seated gentle stretching, yoga and relaxation class for people who want to retain or regain movement. The HK Grant comprises funding towards the salary of the HK Link Worker and set up costs of the Hong Kong groups.
