## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year**

Due to COVID-19 restrictions and limitations, the charity had to curtail its meeting activities during this year. Use of ZOOM was made so that some meetings could be held. Fewer demonstrations than normal were held.

However, it ran the delayed 2020 practical beginners course together with the 2021 intake. Some 40 new beekeepers were helped to set up. Meetings were held using an online format. No public shows or events were held.

Members often engage in presentations to public groups - for example school, gardening clubs, Girl Guides, Rotary. The public also contact us for advice through our website on honey bees and indeed flying insect matters of all types - especially bumble bees and wasps.

Some of the Association members provide a free swarm collection service to the general public in our area. Recent budget cuts in organisations such as York City Council, Police, local businesses and the like mean when they are contacted by the public with a bee problem, the callers are directed to YDBKA for assistance. And not only just for honey bees - we are often called for help or advice for other insect pollinators
