Objects/Principal Activities
Vision:
Dancing in and For Freedom
Mission:
We use dance as a powerful tool to address the impact of modern slavery. Our interactive dance experiences connect hearts, restore hope and inspire change. We do it for survivors and the children of tomorrow, because we believe in a future where everybody lives in freedom, and people dance only for joy.
We currently work out this mission in three ways:-
Performance Productions: TNP gives professional dance productions that raise awareness through informing audiences on the effects and realities of modern slavery. The performances aim to instigate and empower change, by taking audiences through a journey of lost innocence, 21st century slavery, and how this injustice still affects every single society throughout the world today and what people can do to make a difference.
Education workshops: TNP has audience tailored workshops that have been created to inform, equip and inspire students and participants to take ownership of instances of human trafficking in their own communities and engage in conversations about safe relationships.
Restorative dance workshops for Survivors: The third branch works with survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking, through its Restorative Dance Workshops. These are fun, creative workshops which aim to develop confidence, self-esteem, physical fitness and ownership of survivors’ bodies.
Organisation
TNP is governed by the Board of Trustees which is responsible for all aspects of the organisation that affect this UK-based Charity.
As at the year ended 29 February 2024, the Board of Trustees was made up as follows:
Jim Treherne - Chair/Treasurer Sophie Smyth - Secretary Tim Withers - Trustee Sharon Green - Trustee
The Trustees may appoint new trustees throughout the year. They are all volunteers.
Kevin Lowen resigned as Treasurer on 15 September 2023
TNP’s bankers are Natwest Bank.

Review of Activities
Restorative branch: TNP continued to provide tailor-made dance workshops to support survivors of human trafficking and modern slavery. Grants were received from Westhill Endowment and, Anchor Foundation totalling £10,500 to fund these Restorative workshops. A fundraising evening held in October 2023 raised over £6,800.
Financial Review
The overall result for the year was a deficit of £5,920 compared with a surplus of £4,115 the previous year.
Reserves
TNP aims to maintain funds of at least £2,000 so that it is able to enter into contracts to hire performance venues and commit to other expenditure for the following year.
Risk Management
The Board of Trustees has examined the principal areas of the Charity’s operations and considered what major risks may arise in each of these areas. In the opinion of the Board of Trustees, the Charity has established resources and review systems which, under normal conditions, should allow the risks identified by them to be mitigated to an acceptable level in its day to day operations.
The Charity has appropriate risk mitigation measures in place including policies and training on the following:
Working with vulnerable groups - particularly survivors of human trafficking First Aid
The Charity ensures all volunteers and staff have up to date DBS checks prior to working with children or vulnerable adults
Policies
TNP has the following policies to govern its operational activities and these are reviewed on an agreed timeline, either annual or bi-annual. They are:
-
Finance
-
Health & Safety
-
• Recruitment
-
Equal Opportunities
-
• Safeguarding
-
Risk Management
-
Data Protection and Privacy
Future prospects
TNP will continue to provide support to survivors of modern slavery. Workshops will be for women, men, youth and children of the survivors.
TNP will be reviving previous productions, from before the pandemic.
TNP will be exploring reaching out to for Primary Schools audiences for the first time, ensuring all safeguarding is in place to reach this new age bracket.
I declare, in my capacity of Charity Trustee, that:
-
the Trustees have approved the report above; and
-
have authorised me to sign it on their behalf
