Gertie's Lonely Guinea Pig Rescue Trustee's Annual Report 01 February 2024 to 31 January 2025 Charlty Number: 1176936 Registsred Addres8: 35 Fem Avenue, North Shields, Tyne & Wear, NE29 ORJ Governance A Charitable Incorporated Organisation (COI) govemed by a Trustee's constitutional agreement Trustee8 Samantha Jackson - Treasurerrrrustee Karen Corder- Chalmanrustee Jayne Muir- Secretaryrrrustee Karen Price - Trustee Our Purpose and Public Benefit For the benefit of the public to relieve the suffering of guinea pigs in need of care and attention and, in particular, to provide and maintain rescue homes or other facilities for the reception, care and treatment of such guinea pigs; To promote humane behaviour towards guinea pigs bred or owned as pets by providing appropriate care, protection, treatment and security for those which are in need of care and attention by reason of sickness, maltreatment, poor circumstances or ill usage and to educate the public in matters pertaining to the care of such animals. Achievements We took in 63 Guinea Pigs Rehomed 49 guinea pigs - ensuring our adoption policy was met on each adoption and advising on appropriate ongoing care. We now have 19 Guinea Pigs with Sanctuary status and a pemianent home with Gertie's - This is where due to age or medical condition they are unable to be rehomed. Some are at the rescue and others are in long term foster placement.
Communication We have continued to develop our website - which contains a lot of information about us, what we do and how to contact us. We continue to maintain a Facebook Page and Group to support people who have adopted from Gertie's, raise awareness of our charity and work, fund raise and to support all guinea pig owners. We have Facebook and Instagram Accounts to further our media impact Post adoption we support owners via phone and messenger which takes up a lot of our time. Risks Considered General Data Protsction Regulation Continually review our data policies and online security to meet with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Reviewed our storage of data. Funding Continually tske in to account the financial balan of the rescue to dictate the number of guinea pigs we can give PlaS. We need to ensure we maintain a balance of funds that allow for at least 6 months running costs in hand. Accounts Our Annual Accounts have been compiled cross checked and agreed by the Trustees. Income Total Income £15,086 Our income came from 4 sources Donations - All donations have come in the main from Gertie's Supporters and adopters. We are very lucky to have a core of faithful and generous supporters without whom we would not be able to stsy afloat.
Give As you live Raised £30.92 - We promote the use of Give As You Live when people buy goods online. If they go through this site we get a small donation without increasing the cost to the purchaser. PayPal Giving Fund £419.90 arrived via this Facebook based fundraising. This is where people can pick our charity and raise funds for their birthdays etc. This also includes funds raised where people choose us as their charity on Ebay, make an Ebay sale in our benefit and via other associated companies. Other Schemes- Enthu80- Great North Run £3,748 - A first for us, we had 10 runners in the Great Nopth Run and they raised an amazing amount of money for us. Expenditure Our expenditure was £11,816 Vet Fe88 £3,152 was made up of professional medical care for sick guinea pigs and our neutering program where boars who fail to bond with other boars are neutered to find a home with females. A masslve thank you to Flrst Vets and In partlcular Judlth who always glves our gulnea pigs the grEatest care andputs herself out for us. Treatments £28 - Made up of treatments for mites and fungal infections etc. Guinea Pig Supplies £96,019 this consists of items that are used in daily care and wellbeing of the guinea pigs such as - vegetables, hay, bedding, pellets and cleaning products. Equipment £824 This is items that have multiple use like cages, pens, tables, correx, bridges, hideys etc. Also a humidifier to keep damp from the Guinea pig room.
MedialAdvertislnglFundraising £1,514 - This is our website host and hardcopy media like posters, leaflets and business cards, Also for hosting events and associated costs Sundries and Postage £220 this is everything else- such as stationery, postage and general use items. PayPal Fees Fees for using PayPal - £50 Donations to Other Guinea Pig Rescues £10 to Milhavern Guinea Pig Rescue (also supported by taking some guinea pigs from a large intske) Our closing balance a8 at 31 January 2023 wa8 £9,756 Conclusion We are monitoring finding the balance between financials and support we can offer, ensuring we do not end up in a difficult financial situation. Costs have increased dramatically over the past couple of years and the adoption rates of guinea pigs have dropped. Our biggest asset remains our loyal and generous supporters - without whose support and donation's Gertie's Lonely Guinea Pig Rescue would not be able to function.
