To promote humane behaviour towards guinea pigs bred or owned as pets by providing appropriate care, protection, treatment and security for those which are in need of care and attention by reason of sickness, maltreatment, poor circumstances or ill usage and to educate the public in matters pertaining to the care of such animals. Achievements Rescue space provided to 95 Guinea Pigs Rehomed 93 guinea pigs - ensuring our adoption policy was met on each adoption and advising on appropriate ongoing care. We now have 23 Guinea Pigs with Sanctuary ststus and a pemianent home with Gertie's - This is where due to age or medical condition they are unable
to be rehomed. Some are at the rescue and others are in long tern foster placement. We have continued to operate with a backdrop of a global pandemic putting restrictions on our operations. Once again we have taken in 3 large mis-sex cases resulting in multiple births in rescue. Post adoption we support owners via phone and messenger which takes up a lot of our time. Communication We have continued to develop our website - which contains a lot of information about us, what we do and how to contact us. We have now had over 21,000 hits on the site. We continue to maintain a Facebook Page and Group to support people who have adopted from Gertie's. raise awareness of our charity and work, fvnd raise and to support all guinea pig owners. We have done a mail out to Vets and pet supply outlets to encourage awareness of our Charity. Rlsks Considered General Dats Protection Regulation Reviewed our major risks and reviewed our Privacy policy to meet with the General Dats Protection Regulation (GDPR). Reviewed our storage of data. Covid-19 Wrth the pandemic we have had to change our adoption and intake produre to ensure all restrictions were met and the correct safety measures were put in pla.
Accounts Our Annual Accounts have been compiled and signed off by the Trustees. Income Total Income £15,332 Our income came from 4 sources Donations - All donations have come in the main from Gertie's Supporters and adopters. They have been absolutely amazing during the pandemic in keeping the rescue able to function. Give As you livelAmazon Smlle Raised £723~ We promote the use of Give As You Live when people buy goods online. If they go through this site we get a small donation without increasing the cost to the purchaser. Glft Ald £2,312 was collected via HMRC for qualrfying donations. PayPal Glvlng Fund £745 arrived via this Facebook based fundraising. This is where people can pick our charty and raise funds for their birthdays etc. This also indudes fvnds raised where people choose us as their charity on Ebay, make an Ebay sale in our benefit and via other associated companies. Expenditure Our expenditure was £13,797 Vot Fees £2,025 was made up of professional medical care for sick guinea pigs and our neutering program where boars who fail to bond with other boars are neutered to find a home with females. A massive thank you to First Vets and in particular Judith who always gives our guinea pigs the greatest care and puts hersem out for us. Treatments £324 - Made up of treatments for mites and fungal infections.
Guinea Pig Supplies £8,722 this consists of items that are used in daily care and wellbeing of the guinea pigs such as - vegetables, hay, bedding, pellets and cleaning products. This year we have been able to pay for the daity vegetables for the guinea pigs. Equipment £1 ,265 This is items that have multiple use like cages, pens, tables, correx, bridges, hideys etc. We have invested in some dehumidifiers to regulate the humidty in the guinea pigs rooms. MedialAdvertising £188 - This is our website host and hardcopy media like posters, leaflets and business cards. Sundries and Postsge £1,200 this is everything else - such as stationery, postage and general use items. And includes our calendars. PayPal Fees Fees for using PayPal - £62 Our closlng balance as at 31 January 2022 was £3,215 Concluslon Our biggest asset remains our loyal and generous supporters - without whose support and donation's Gertie's Lonely Guinea Pig Rescue would not be able to function. Their support, encouragement, friendship and generosity always makes us feel very humble. We could not have survived another pandemic year withoLrt them.
