Chairs Report
We have continued to progress since our AGM last November We still need both male and female Volunteers, we have 1 parent who help us out. We have a volunteer from the vines who helps when she can and Dot from the butterfly conservations helps when she can. We will continue to advertise for new volunteers and committee members.
We will continue to advertise that volunteers can earn tempo time credits. We have 2 young volunteers who earn tempo time credits for volunteering with us.
Tempo time credits are successful and we will continue to use them.
October 24
2[nd] October – 13 attended-ages 7 to 13yrs, music /computer room, arts and crafts, free play with loose parts. Dot -butterfly conservation attended and did crocheting with the young people, they learnt how to do chain stitch and some did a flower. Dot will come back in 2 weeks’ time, then on Friday of half term week in October. We made Pizza baguettes using food from fayre share. 13 people had food.
9[th] October- 17 attended -ages 8 -13yrs, snack was ham and cheese - sandwiches and crisps , 17 had food we used the bread from fayre share. JOSH -BCBC Health and well-being officer -did football -6 took part. There was arts and crafts, music room, free play. The young people put Halloween decorations up.
16[th] October – 13 attended ages 8 -13yrs - Josh turned up for football but the area was flooded, not suitable to play football. There was music room, arts and crafts and some did lego and board games. They had pasta and pasta sauce and cheese.
23[rd] october closed due to D.D. illness
Half term wk – wed 30[th] October -Willow Weaving, - Witches brooms and spiders, Halloween arts and crafts with clay.-, Pumkin carvingdonated by Ian -Tesco community champion., music room.13 attended , They had pasta and pasta sauce and cheese. Thursday31[st] October
18 attended, 4 parents, Halloween messy play activities, they did apple bobbing, potion making, and they had Halloween party food. arts/crafts, freeplay, music room 10 attended -6f 4m 10 people had sandwiches and fruit .
1[st] November --arts crafts, music room, free play, wildflower seeds planting with dot- butterfly conservation and crocheting and they made butterfly magnets. 6 attended they had toastie sandwiches.
6[th] November 19 attended. 3 parents, Claire from vines came down, she was keen and was good with the young people. We will hopefully see her next spring. Josh BCBC came down and 8yp did football. Dotbutterfly conservation attended, did crocheting, some did music room arts and crafts some planted wildflower seeds. Seren and scarlet did the snack, they had choices of soup, pasta , pasta sauce, cheese and French bread. 13[th] November- AGM
Attended -Debbie, Sarah, Nigel, Cal,v2c maria and Georgia. BavoAllison mawbly. 6 young people. Cal donated 2 pudsey bears, and we put names on raffle tickets. Winners were cerys and Georgia V2c. food was ham rolls and biscuits and tea and coffee.
20[th] November – 8 attended, they put up Christmas decorations. Jayden wants us to keep bees to make honey. D.D contacted local beekeepers for a workshop.
27[th] November -youth club closed – due to illness
4[th] December – 10 attended, Christmas arts and crafts, music room, they had pasta and pasta sauce.
11[th] December -14 attended -we had Christmas party and played games and they all had selection packs donated by Tesco community champion. We had a visit from young inspectors and Paz from Boys and Girls club of Wales.
January 25
8[th] Jan -18 young people attended. Young lady called in, interested in volunteering, has some experience. Will call in next week, but she didn’t. Dot did butterfly arts and crafts. some did free play, music room, arts/crafts we took down the Christmas decorations.
14 yp had Taglatelle and pasta sauce.
We booked trip with Dot butterfly lady for wed 16[th] July .
Dot coming to youth club next week.
15[th] Jan
14 attended- the young people were happy with the muddy faces resources, they liked the palm drills and made some holes in the wooden discs.
They did free play, arts/crafts and music room. 14 yp had soup and bread, some had beans on toast, cake and biscuits.
22[nd] Jan
11 young people attended. Cooking with Jen Cooking together wales funded by lottery community fund. They made Tikka Quorn wraps.
1young person did arts/crafts. They all had pasta, pasta sauce. They had bread and Cakes from the fayre share collection. 28[th] Jan
18 attended. They did cooking with Jen- they made spring rolls for Chinese New Year and Arts and crafts.
February
5[th] feb -15 attended, 1 parent, Dot attended with butterfly arts and crafts, young people decorated ceramic butterfly houses. Free play and music room.
Young person helped to make pizza baguettes for their snack. 12[th] feb -17 attended sparks filming workshop. This was funded by Bridgend youth support grant. The young people really enjoyed. They would like to do it again. D.D will try and look for more funding. 19[th] feb -15 attended. Warm hub grant –

Wed 26[th] Feb – warm hub
We did visit to castle down with Dot saint brides, the home where the rare butterfly lives, everyone enjoyed, they did bug hunting as well and a scavenger hunt. They did bark rubbings. They enjoyed learning about nature and plants and enjoyed being outside in the fresh air. We had good feedback for dot. 16 attended Thurs 27[th] Feb – warm hub
13 attended Ty Bont Community Garden. They planted different vegetable seeds, radish, onions, cabbage, lettuce, pumpkins. They started a bug hotel, they did bug hunting. They enjoyed learning about different plants, and bugs they watered the plants. They also planted wildflower seeds. They are looking forward to their next visit.
Fri 28[th] feb
Street dance workshop with Zack franks -10 attended. everyone enjoyed.
March -warm hub-youth support grant
5[th] March – 13 attended, 7-14yrscooking with Jen, they made fruit kebabs and pancakes. They all enjoyed some used the new paints, some did arts and crafts. They had snacks and drinks. 12[th] March – warm hub
14 attended ,cooking with Jen -they made filled jacket potatoes. Some did arts/crafts and some planted flower seeds, they had pasta and meatballs and drinks.
19[th] March – youth support grant warm hub - 12 attended, 7- 14yrscooking with Jen they made berry crumbles, arts /crafts some decorated wooden butterfly houses, some planted muscari which dot donated. Some planted flower /veg seeds. They had tuna, pasta and mayo and fruit cocktail, mandarin oranges. Wed 26[th] March- youth support grant and warm hub
14 attended, 4-14 yrs Kath attended from Mentre Bro Ogr Iaith with canvas for the young people to colour. Cooking with Jen they made pan fried tortilla wraps, dot attended with a moth trap, they enjoyed looking for moths and learning about moths. They found 3 Gray moths, and 1 Quaker moth, some did crocheting, some did bug hunting in the garden. April 25
2[nd] April -8 attended ages 3-14yrs.some did cooking with Jen Cooking Together Wales -They made biscuits and decorated them. Dot butterfly lady attended with the moth trap, they found 1 moth, and they planted cornflower seeds, cosmos seeds, part of the RHS community groups and school groups. The project is growing in a small space.
Some did Arts/crafts, some did free play. They had Pizza baguettes for snack, some young people helped to make them.

18[th] April trip to Bettws lodge for outdoor education activities – 10 attended-ages 10 to 13yrs ,
29[th] April -15 yp attended – cooking with Jen cooking together Wales - they made couscous salad. . Dot -butterfly conservation attended with the moth trap, they found a may bug . and did crocheting with the young people, they learnt how to do chain stitch, and some did a flower. Some played with loose parts in play. Some water the garden. Paz brought the young inspectors report we were very pleased and a display frame that we can put up in the youth club. We made Pizza baguettes using food from fayre share. 13 people had food.
7[th] May – 12 attended -ages 8 -13yrs ,Johnathan -Beek keeper attended. The young people was really interested. There was arts and crafts, free play .
Debbie will contact Johnathan for another workshop later in the year. And possiblyfor honey tasting session .17 had food we used the bread from fayre share.
14[th] May – 26 attended. Jen did cooking -cooking together wales -they made pasta bake and garlic bread. They did arts and crafts free play with loose parts. Young people did ideas for arts and crafts resources for the sun credit grant.
22[nd] May – 11 attended. They did Cooking with Jen -Cooking together Wales- they made Enchiladoes. Dot -butterfly lady attended -they found 15 moths. The highlight was the Brimstone moth.
30[th] May -12 attended -they made pizzas which was requested by young people. there was arts and crafts, free play, Dot set up moth trap in youth club garden, sarah met Dot at youth club. The night before. 2 moths , and a crane fly was found .. Claire attended from the vines.
June
4.06.25 -19 attended. There was cooking with Jen – cooking together Wales. Free play, arts and crafts.
11[th] June -15 young people attended.
Last cooking session with Jen from Cooking together Wales -Lottery grant.
They made fruit crumble cakes. There was arts and crafts, the young people made models etc with clay. They had fun with water guns. June 25
18.06.25 -12 attended ages 4-14yrs. Some young people did digging, some did transplanting, dot attended with moth trap, and some did butterfly Arts and crafts. 25.06.25
10 attended. 6-14yrs Debbie and dot did planting in the community garden. Dereck and Dianne v2c came down to do some filming. Dereck brought some flowers and Debbie bought plants which was flowers and vegetables. The young people enjoyed. July
02.07.25 -20 attended. Ages 4-14yrs. Dot came along with moth trap. We did planting and sowing seeds in the community garden. Some did arts and crafts, free play and some did circus skills with Rhian Halford Circus Cymru. 09.07.25
Visit to TY Bont Community Garden 12 attended ages 4-14 yrs. They dug up potatoes, did bug hunting, scavenger hunt and started planning ideas for play day event. 16.07.25
- Trip to Castle down Saint Brides Major – 14 attended -ages 4-14yrs This is where the rare butterfly and other butterflies live.
This was organised by dot -butterfly conservation -through their funding.
Dot organised a scavenger hunt. They all enjoyed and loved looking for the Butterflies.

Debbie, Kayleigh and Eifion planted up the herbs in the community garden which Derek had delivered on 19.07.25 Summer programme 23.07.25 Trip to Ty Bont Community Garden 15 attended 4-14yrs Dot attended with butterfly Arts and Crafts. Some did bug hunting, some looked at the moth trap. Roberta -Cooked Stir fry with vegetables that had been grown in the garden. Everyone had the opportunity to taste it and they had cookies. Some transplanted Runner beans and planted up herbs. When we got back to youth club, we planted up tomato plants into bigger pots and took them over to the green house in the Community Garden, they watered the plants. They all enjoyed. 24.07.25 Animal Interactive workshop, 26 attended ages 4 -25+ in the community centre. Everyone enjoyed. 25.07.25 Trip to Saint Fagans -38 attended 4 -25+, everyone enjoyed. 30.07.25
Playday event this went very well, A big thank you to all our volunteers who helped, set up, put away and took part helping out on the day. Over 100 people attended-all ages
V2C attended with Money Matters team. Bridgend lions attended, they were busy all day so raised money for their charity. Dan -African drumming, Spiderman attended, Community garden -Dot butterfly conservation attended with Butterfly arts and crafts, there was bug hunting, Shell -compost cwtch project did planting wildflower seeds. Mel-Out to Learn to Willow – they made Bees, Butterflies and Flowers. Roberta -Babo Bach -Did Fruit Kebabs -everyone enjoyed. September 25 Debbie had surgery so the youth club was closed for 3 weeks.
