At Tusome Africa, we are committed to strengthening the educational foundation of pre-primary children while establishing a district scoreboard to measure learner achievement and teaching effectiveness. Our efforts encompass a range of activities:
- School-Based Early Childhood Education: We prioritise delivering high-quality, affordable early childhood education (ECE). This includes the refurbishment of three ECE school learning centers. By offering top-tier early childhood education, we empower children with the essential foundations needed for their educational journey.

Community-Based Early Childhood Education: Our focus extends to building strong early childhood foundations within select communities. We provide free, quality learning opportunities for out-of-school children facing financial barriers to accessing private ECE schools.

Data-Driven Learning Assessment: We employ a data-driven approach to track students' progress systematically and consistently. Through curriculum-based assessments, we monitor each child's learning on a termly basis, providing valuable insights and highlighting learning trends. Real-time data allows for targeted resource allocation to areas or students in need, facilitating evidence-based planning and decision-making at the school and district levels.

Building Foundational Skills for Learning: We promote the development of foundational skills by establishing debate and literacy clubs. This initiative includes the renovation of selected school libraries, ensuring children have access to books, board games, and other resources that foster diverse learning experiences through play."

Section D Achievements and performance

Summary of the main n 2022, the year following the pandemic, all schools resumed full achievements of the charity operations. However, towards the end of the year, an outbreak of Ebola during the year necessitated the early closure of schools by two weeks in the final term. Despite this challenge, our organization achieved significant milestones: 1. Early Childhood Education (ECE) Centers: We successfully completed the refurbishment and construction of three ECE centers, handing them over to the respective schools. These centers are poised to provide quality early childhood education.

- Community-Based ECE Program Feasibility Study: We conducted a comprehensive feasibility study for our communitybased ECE program. This study led to the identification of three villages where we will pilot the community ECE initiative. Additionally, we recruited and trained ten caregivers, whom we refer to as para-educators, to facilitate this program.

- Educational Partnership: We established a valuable partnership with a local government educational department. Together, we assembled a team of experienced teachers entrusted with the responsibility of designing and administering assessment exams for learners in primary schools. This collaboration is set to enhance the quality of education.

- Expansion Planning: We successfully concluded a feasibility study for the expansion of our organization to a second district. After careful consideration, we selected Wakiso District, characterized by a distinct child demographic, including urban poor children who face challenges in accessing education. This expansion aligns with our commitment to reaching underserved communities.

Despite the disruptions caused by the Ebola outbreak, our organization remains dedicated to its mission of advancing education and providing learning opportunities to children in need.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 31/ 12 / 2022 . Responsibilities and As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the basis of report accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have examiner's statement come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:

the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or

the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or
-
the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
