Structurefft governance and manrfement

2017.
RISK MANAGEMENT
The directors have examined the rnaior strategic. business ond operational risks which the charity
faces and confim that systems have been established to enable regular Trports be produced so that
the necessary steps can be taken to ￿SSen the risk*
REMUNERATION
All directors give their time freety and no directors remuneration was paKI in the year.
Objertlves and acti¥ltles
The obiectives of the centre are to support and promote ag17cultural. and rural and allied industries,
in Gosforth and the surrounding area and in particular. but not eXclusNe￿, by holding an annual
agricultural and horticultural show and advancing agricultural education.
We have referred to the guidance contained in tlk Chartty ComMiss￿n.5 general guidance on public
benefrt when reviewing our aims and objectives and in planning our firture activities.
Achiev¢rnents and perf0m￿nCe
The run up to the show was quite smooth apart from the postal entr￿5 for the horse / INestock
classes. Thls was caused by issues at the post office, staff shortage5 meant deliverie5 were on
happenin8 weekly. Many of the entries came during the week of the closing date, maklng it a rush to
get the catslogue ready.
The Show enjoyed another great doy weather wise. bringing In large numbers of vlsitors. so much so
we were running out of parking spaces. The chair opened up one of his fields near the show ground
to help keep the highway dear. Trade stands were up slightty on previous years and all seemed to
enjoy a fruitful day. many wrote to thank the show afterwards. The general entries remained good,
with sheep still bel￿ super tKipular and young handler classes being well supported.
The show didn't have an official attraction this year, but instead asked show jumper Richard Nicholl
to give a show jumpin8 demonstration which was well re￿Ived by spectator5. This year, the
handicraft and horticulture tent asked for a grant to hire a marquee which was a little wider than the
normal tent. This turned out to be a huge Suc￿sS the handicraft settion were thrilled to bits with
how it all flowed so much better on the day. Having the two sections under the same roof with
dfviding wall also worked really well. The Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling was moved to
more level a￿a on the field by the collerting rin8. and entries were good with the wrestling runnin8
over until after 5pm. There was plenty of competition in the horses, dog5, vinta8e and cattle sections
too, which meant there was plenty for all comers to see and do.
