Charity aims:

To advance the education of adults and children in Uganda by providing financial support to establish and run a school or schools and to enable adults and children to access education and training.
The prevention or relief of poverty or financial hardship in Uganda by providing or assisting in the provision of education, training programmes, healthcare projects and all the necessary support designed to enable individuals to generate a sustainable income and be self-sufficient.
The provision of educational materials for schools and other organisations in the UK, relating to life in Uganda and our activities to reduce hardship.
Carry out fundraising events in the UK to support activities to raise the standard of living in Uganda.

Fundraising:

The charity received donations from individual members of Chipping Sodbury Baptist Church for Bibles and Sunday School books to be given out at its trainings in Uganda.
The charity also received two generous donations in July from two members of Chipping Sodbury Baptist Church to boost the trainings in the summer and towards Melanie Horn’s flight as specified by the donor.
Additional donations were received via its website and Facebook profile.

Craft fayres were held at intervals throughout the year at Chipping Sodbury Baptist Church to support fundraising for trainings.
A quiz/supper evening was held in Chipping Sodbury to boost funds.
Gift Aid was also received from HRMC.

Raising Awareness

The charity has continued to maintain a website and social media pages to inform investors and promote awareness, including photos and dialogue from people within the village communities.
Members of the congregation of Chipping Sodbury Baptist Church express an interest in the community trainings in Uganda and supports the charity’s fundraising events again knitting baby blankets and garments for Melanie Horn to take to the communities when she visits .
Melanie Horn held an information stand about the charity at the lunchtime Christmas fayre at the South Gloucestershire Council building with permission from the council.
Created a revised presentation about the works of the charity to run in the background at fundraising events.

What has happened this year:

The charity continued with the mobile schooling project (Inspire) that is aimed to teach kitchen planting and farming to support the villages and suburbs struggling with famine as many people flock back to the villages from Kampala.
Melanie Horn visited Uganda in July-August 2025 and supported the delivery of training to communities in Mityana, following the taster visit last year, Kanjuki in Luwero, and Ssayi in Gombe. Unfortunately, the visit to Nsazi Island Lake Victoria was cancelled by the community following a storm but has been rescheduled. Instead, the team visited a local school in the area to grow awareness. During these trainings, Promise made the decision to push for the local children in P5 and P6 to attend the trainings to reach out to the new generation with a positive mindset about farming. Therefore, the trainings were delivered in schools to both school children and parents within each community. Each of the communities have requested the team visit again next year with further training.
Many positive testimonies were gathered, from previous delegates, about the impact of the training and sustainable incomes established by their farming.
Similarly, gardens showed that delegates had listened to the importance of clearing rubbish such as batteries and plastics. The gardens at Nsazi Island had flowers as borders around the vegetable gardens.
Melanie Horn and Vestar Makaka presented the works of the charity live on the local radio station of Kampala.
Mustafa Ssekandi (otherwise known as Blox Musta, a gospel singer and songwriter) also joined the team in Uganda as a volunteer.

The Inspire Project was delivered to representatives to another 500 students/farmers, each programme ending with a celebration and testimonies about what they had achieved. Some of these testimonies were recorded and uploaded to the website with permission from the student. They were given seeds to begin planting.
Training at Mityana Public School, witnessed the students being fully onboard with the programme as last year’s taster session based on the sack garden had encouraged them to plant sacks around the school grounds. They had also planted a nursery garden. We were able to sensitively correct them about the direction of the rows of planting to avoid seeds being washed away in the future. The charity gave the school more seeds to continue planting additional gardens.
During the celebration at Luweero, a government minister endorsed our work and has publicly announced that he wishes to work with us when we return to Luweero.
Melanie Horn and Vestar Makaka visited the malnutrition unit at Mulago Hospital to deliver blankets and clothing to the babies and infants in need.

Public Benefit

The charity continues to engage with many people about the Inspire Project and the need for education about planting, composting and irrigation in Uganda and has delivered a programme of nine sessions to needy families in the community who are then encouraged to go on and share their knowledge and experience with their neighbours.
Children in the UK are developing a global awareness about life in Uganda and how they can make an impact now and in the future by being directly involved with the charity.
Children in the UK are learning about different techniques for art, music and cooking. In particular, the Edge Youth Group at Chipping Sodbury Baptist Church have learnt about music, craft, farming and living in Uganda and laid on performances to fundraise for the charity.
The charity has linked churches to hold meetings together, share resources and provided Bibles and other books for their Sunday School children and teachers to aid the delivery of children’s ministry.
When teaching on Nsazi Island, communities from neighbouring islands were also invited to attend the training, nurturing relationships between the fishing islands. As a result of the storm, this will be carried forward to next year, once the venue has been rebuilt.

Finances:

Funds have been used to purchase printing of teaching documents, tools, hats, seeds, associated travel expenses and refreshments for volunteers to be used by team delivering the sessions about planting to the community. Contributions have also been given to the schools to feed the delegates from the community attending the intense all-day trainings.
An annual fee for the website domain has been paid for this year.
