Charity aims:

To advance the education of adults and children in Uganda by providing financial support to establish and run a school or schools and to enable adults and children to access education and training.

The prevention or relief of poverty or financial hardship in Uganda by providing or assisting in the provision of education, training programmes, healthcare projects and all the necessary support designed to enable individuals to generate a sustainable income and be self-sufficient.

The provision of educational materials for schools and other organisations in the UK, relating to life in Uganda and our activities to reduce hardship.

Carry out fundraising events in the UK to support activities to raise the standard of living in Uganda.
Fundraising:

The charity received a donation from Chipping Sodbury Baptist Church for Bibles and Sunday School books to be given out at its trainings in Uganda.

Donations were received via its website and Facebook profile.

A generous donation was received from a donor to boost the trainings in the summer and towards the safe boat travel.

Raising Awareness

The charity has continued to maintain a website and social media pages to inform investors and promote awareness, including photos and dialogue from people within the village communities.

Members of the congregation of Chipping Sodbury Baptist Church express an interest in the community trainings in Uganda and supports the charity’s fundraising events and knits baby blankets and garments for Melanie Horn to take to the communities when she visits .

Melanie Horn posted on the South Gloucestershire Council Staff noticeboard about her visit to Uganda (with permission from the council) and staff also donated knitted blankets for her visit.
What has happened this year:
-
The charity continued with the mobile schooling project (Inspire) that is aimed to teach kitchen planting and farming to support the villages and suburbs struggling with famine as many people flock back to the villages from Kampala.

The charity has begun using the research materials to write training sessions about the keeping of livestock in Uganda to support farmers under the heading Ignite Project .

Makaka Vestar met with Luyima Ponsiano to support the recruiting of another volunteer, Magwali James, a previous delegate at the first training.

Melanie Horn visited Uganda in July-August 2023 and supported the delivery of training to communities in Kitanda and Kitungwa in Gombe, Kanjuki in Luwero and Nsazi Island Lake Victoria.

Promise reviewed the community in Kitungwa that had begun teaching others on a piece of land loaned to them by a delegate for a year. Many positive testimonies were gathered about the impact of the training and income sustainability from them and other previous delegates.

The Inspire Project was delivered to representatives from 200 families/farmers, each programme ending with a celebration and testimonies about what they had achieved. Some of these testimonies were recorded and uploaded to the website with permission from the student. They were given seeds to begin planting.

Melanie Horn and Vestar Makaka met with Tim Sebati of Spirit FM Uganda to discuss the idea of creating a programme for outreach to a wider audience. Mr Sebati welcomed the idea and invited the team to meet with his programme team to discuss further details.
Public Benefit

programme of nine sessions to needy families in the community who are then encouraged to go on and share their knowledge and experience with their neighbours.

Children in the UK are developing a global awareness about life in Uganda and how they can make an impact now and in the future by being directly involved with the charity.

Children in the UK are learning about different techniques for art, music and cooking.

The charity has linked churches to hold meetings together, share resources and provided Bibles and other books for their Sunday School children and teachers to aid the delivery of children’s ministry.
Finances:

Funds have been used to purchase printing of teaching documents, tools, overalls, seeds, associated travel expenses and refreshments for volunteers to be used by team delivering the sessions about planting to the community.

An annual fee for the website domain has been paid for this year.

The charity has no debt financing.
