**Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document** 

To reduce social exclusion for the public benefit within Argoed and South Eastern Valleys by preventing people from becoming socially excluded, relieving the needs of those people who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society by: 

- Providing a community café run volunteers and offering work experience 

- Providing a safe, secure environment during the winter months for homeless persons with the provision of a hot meal, blankets and a

calming environment. 

- Providing a provision for homeless persons to wash themselves and access to a washing machine. 

- Providing opportunity for unemployed, to increase skills undertake low level support in the kitchen to become socially included and increase the chances of accessing employment 

- Signposting counselling services for people with drug and alcohol dependencies 

- Promoting a range of training opportunities to clients accessing the night shelter provision in a means that will upskill and enhance their chances in society. 

- Promoting the improvement of the conditions of life in socially and economically disadvantaged communities 

- Providing a volunteering workplace for them within the project 

- Provide sustainable refreshment and hospitality facilities for people suffering the effects of rural isolation and people suffering from long term illness including dementia 

In the period 2019-2020 the activities of the charity were severely disrupted by the Covid pandemic.  The homeless shelter operated for 9 weeks and during that time provided overnight stays for a total of 72 individulals.  The café operated between lockdowns.
