## Trustees’ annual report ## 2019/20 **It’s been another busy year, here’s a taste of what’s been going on at the group.** **In 2019-20 18 young carers accessed group** **Welcome to:** Jo and Jane, And 5 Young Carers Ethan and Jayden. Seamus, Patrick and Roisin ## **We’d like to say a big thank you to all our** **funders.** This year we have received £21426.75 from a variety of sources. Alongside subs, members’ and supporters’ donations, fundraising via a market stall and street collection and money raised online via social media, funding has come from Sandrine Atkins, The Book People, Chubb, The Follett Trust, GlaxoSmithKline staff, Hitchin Youth Trust, Hertfordshire’s High Sheriff, Ecclesiastical Insurance, Herts Community Fund, Letchworth Quakers, TJX Europe and Waitrose Community Matters. **Also thank you to** Nightingale House who have let us use the centre for free for so many years to run our group, and Hitchin Youth Trust, who let us hold our trustees’ meetings at their offices for free too. **The year started with plenty of challenges:** a financial one as funds ran low and the need to find a new home as Herts County Council’s Youth Services moved into Nightingale House and their evening use meant we had to move. **In January 2020** , having secured the funding to re-start, we moved to Bandley Hill Play Centre in Stevenage and recruited a new group lead, Jo Butterfield. **Hi I am Jo Butterfield** . Thank you very much for your lovely welcome!! It has been a pleasure to meet all our Young Carers and Families during the summer. Although we have a pandemic going around, the spirit of caring and keeping touch with everyone is still going on!! **Thank you to all our Volunteers and Trustees** for their constant support in giving their time and for the administration of the Group. Well done to you all!! **Group activities** as always have included cooking, sports and arts. We have managed to have a few group sessions in Bandley Hill at the beginning of this year. The children really enjoyed the bigger space and the different recreational activities that are available there, **Young Carers’ Crew, serving young carers in North Herts and Stevenage** charity number 1176778 table tennis was the favourite, followed by bar football and the pool table. Also we always had a very well organised art table. **At the beginning of the session** we would enjoy a few snacks together and have a chitchat to get to know each other and discuss future events or to hear information relevant to our group. ## **Then Covid hit!** Trustees agreed to a scheme of emergency support for young carers’ families which lasted from April through to October. We kept in touch with our families by phone calls and text. We had a few Zoom Meetings, which was really nice for everyone to see each other. We have been sending inspiring messages and things to do to our Young Carers to keep them busy!! We celebrated our Young Carers birthdays and competition winners with gift cards. “Free Pizza” vouchers were sent to our Young Carers to share with their families during the Summer Holidays. Finally, over the summer our “Get Creative Competition” was won by: Cara and Jasmine, who won joint 1st prize, Maddison and Tayla won joint 2nd prize and Jacob won 3rd prize.
