Our third and full year of operations has seen the Trust consolidaic its position of the
EIAF Coltishall Elerita8e Centre as a significant attraction for the County of Norfolk.
We have maintained stcady gr0￿h wilh visits by fornier station personnel, local

Our well established annual rouline began with the usual preparations tor the third
year of opcralions by returbi5hing some exhibits and othenvisc preparing for the 2023
season which began in carly April and closed ai ihe end of October. In addilion. a
number of out of season visitors were hostcd with prior arrangement. Regular offers
of items for exhibiting were accepted which include ? Paveway bombs (as used in the
Gulf War) which were donaled by the RAF. In addition, a cutaway Spitfire propeller

The Trust was deltghted to appoint the well knoNvn avialion artist Mike Rondot as our
artist in residence. This is appropriate as he was a Jaguar pilot based at RAF Coltishall
and we display much of his aft￿.Ork. He has kindly ag￿ed to donate a proportion of
Ihe sale of prints to our funds in return. We will be arranging events for him lo display
his work in the coming season.
The Trust now has a volunteer sialT of 22 people to rnn thc Hcritage Centre and
associated activities. A new ITUStee, Carl Lamb. has also been appointed this year. A
fonner RAF serl'iceman, his current background in finance with a reputable firm in
Norwich will ensure the Trust can draw on a wealth of knowledge and expertise to
devclop our business model and to secure more funding io keep our project moving
fonward. Carl has also coniribuied the expanding our range of exhibils and has lent
thc Trust a Lightning Fighter cockpit which is being refurbished to bring il up to
display standard. To caler for this and other larger exhibi15, the Tru51 has renled on¢
of the Cold War dispersals on the airfield and with some sheller5 ihal have been
er¢cted, this Provides a suitable location for ihe work required prior to the exhibits
being broughi into public i'iew.
The Elerilagc Lentre's unique Phoio Reconnaissance Collcciion, based on a group of
deployable cabins, has been added to this year with a furthcr cabin which was used
by Air Carncra technicians io repair and service aerial cameras. 'fhis now compleles
the set and this cabin will be on display in ihe comin8 season. This group of cabins,
the only one of ils kind, is considered a collection of national importance in telling
lh¢ story of aerial reconnaissance from WW2 through to ihe era of Jaguar aircraft
including the first Gulf War and beyond.
Financially, the Trusi has agaTn proved thai ihe RAF Colii5hall Heritage Centre is
viabl¢ with a donation based income. al least for the time being. Donations from
visitors. fonner station i'eterans and corporal¢ gran15 have ensured Ihat the season's
iakings provide more than sufficient funds for the Heritage Centre and ils actil'ilics to
carry on and ¢xpand. Thi5 15, of course, complemented by the enormous amount of
volunlary. effort thai gocs along with it. The Trust maintains a close watch on the
financial situation on a monthly basis and the approach to fund raising is under
constant review. A stead). increase in i'isiior numbers wa5 rnainlaincd this year with
group visit5 being particularly welcomed. Of note was th¢ success of the "Talk and
Tour" days which were wcll attended. Thes¢ ¢vcnls are usually oversubscribed and
are on a price per head basis. Similarly.. the annual Heritage Open Days sponsorcd by
Norfolk Countv Council in September were again oversubscribed and w'hen their
online booking opened for the i'¢nu¢s throughoui Norfolk. our places filled within 4
days and taster than any of the other locations.
