## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** 

## NOSF 2020/2021 

- NOSF is continuing the Peoples Forest Project initiating and supporting tree planting in parks, school grounds and other open spaces from the city centre out into the county, joining the heart of Nottingham to Sherwood Forest. 

- NOSF continues to deliver the Castle Oaks project in the City, funder by the Nottingham Castle Trust to gift an oak tree to each of the 80 primary and special schools in the city. 

- NOSF continues to work with other groups and individuals to highlight the importance of our City Open Space Network. We play an active role on the local Access Forum, Midlands Park Forum, Nottingham Green Partnership and have had discussions with Nottingham City Councillors and with Lilian Greenwood MP NOSF is also strongly engaged with the National Federation of Parks and Green Spaces which continues national work on behalf of Friends Groups. This includes further developing free resources for such groups: https://parkscommunity.org.uk/ 

- NOSF has made submissions on planning applications affecting open and green spaces, has contributed to relevant Supplementary Planning Documents. We have also acted as witness at a Planning Inquiry and have been working with the Council to improve relevant monitoring and enforcement of planning conditions. 

- NOSF has continued some virtual open Forum meetings and strengthening connections between professional and volunteer “greeners”. 

- NOSF has continued to support “Friends of “ Groups with issues and projects including the development and installation of interpretation for the Inclosure Town Trail. 

NOSF is heavily involved in the “GreenSpace” green social prescribing pilot project and is facilitating and supporting its early development.

There are unlikely to be reserves, as donations are usually given to fund certain projects. However if reserves are accumulated, these will be spent on furthering the aims and objectives of the organisation. Reserves will not be allowed to accumulate in excess of  six months average expenditure
