Trustees, Report The Trustees presentthe Annual Reporttogether with the Financial Statements of the Charity for the year ended 30th April 2022. Objectives and Activities The Charity was registered as a Foundation CIO on 15th january 2018. The objerts of the Charity are for the public benefit within the county of Kent to promote community participation in healthy recreation by providing Grants of financial assistance to charitable and voluntary organisations to assist with the provision of equipment. acces5 to facilities and other services that will enable individuals to take part in a range of sports and activities that are capable of promoting physical health and f itness. Objectives and Activities undertaken The Atlantic AvengersTrust was constttuted to supportf undraising efforts relating to the Atlantic Ocean Row undertaken by Enrique Reina &John Wilson IAKA The AtlanticAvengersl. Fundraising contributedto the cost of completing the Charity Row with the projected, surplus funds identified for use for the charitable purpose of the Trust. Specialist, sponsorship packages were sold, with recipients receiving advertising space on Sic Parv6 Magna - the Atlantic Ocean rowing boat. A numberof fundraising eventswere organised specif ically for The Atlantic Avengers Trust such as a Gala Dinner and a Charity Ball. Funds were also raised through attendance at external events such as football matches, Charity events and business meetings. The Atlantic crossing took place between the 27th of November 2018 and 23rd February 2019- setting a number of world records in the process. Since the row was completed in FebrLJary 2019 no f urther f undraising actThiity has been undertaken, although some donations have been received. The Trust still retains some reserves which are identifEd to support local charities and individuals. No awards were made in the year under review. Achievements The charity's principal objective is to support local people and charities in their sporting endeavourswth the aim to inspire, motivate and provide financial support Iwhere needed). Followingthe completion of the row, the Trust performed thi5 role in two main ways.. i) The award of Grants to local charities 21 Delivering inspirational talks to a wide range of organisations, including Schools,. Sports Clubs,. Cubs & Scouts,. Charities, eg: Shepway Sports Trust, Rotary Club,. businesses and businessgroups, eg.. BITA.
Statement of Trustees, Responsibilities The Trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees, Report and the Financial Statements in accordance with the United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Acceptsd Accounting Prarticel and applicable law and regulations. The law applicable to charities requires the Trustees to prepare Financial Statements for each f inancial period which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the Charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources of the Charity for that period. In preparing these Financial Statements, the Trustees are required to.. select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently; observe the methods and principles in the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice,. make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent; state whether applicable accounting standards have been followed, subjertto any material departures disclosed and explained in the Financial Statements., and prepare the Financial Statements on the going conrn basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the Charity will continue in operation. The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that disclose with reasonab accuracy at any time the financial position of the Charity and enable them to ensure that the f inancial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011, the applicable Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations, and the provisions of the constitution. The Trustees are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Charity and hence fortaking reasonable steps forthe prevention and detection of f rdud and other irregularities. Public Benefit The Trustees conf irm that they have complied with the requirements of Section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Public Benef it Guidance published by the Charity Commission for England and Wales. ReseNe5 and Risk Management Strutture, govemance and management The Charity is governed by its constitution dated Isth January 2018. There are eight Trustees appointed. Responsibilities and basis of report As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 20111"the Act"). I report in respectof my examination of the Charity's accounts carried out undersection 14S of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Dirertions given by the Chatity Commission under section 145lSllbl of the Act. Independent Examinerfs Statement I have completed my examination. I conf irm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that, in any material respect.. the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act,. or the account5 did not accord with the accounting records,. or the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerningthe form and content of the accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2(K)8 otherthan any requirement that the accounts give a 'true and fair, view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination. Income and Endowments Voluntary income including donations, gifts, legacies and Grants that provide core fundinE or are of a general nature is recognised when the Charity has entitlement to the income, it is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured with sufficient reliability. Expendlture All expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or constructive obligation to that expenditure, it is probable settlement is required and the amount can be measured reliably. Charitsble Artivities Charitable expenditure comprises those costs incurred by the Charity in the delivery of its activities and services for its benef iciaries. It includes both costs that can be allocated dirertly to such activities and those costs of an indirect nature necessary to support them. Governance Costs These include the costs attributable to the Charity's compliance wwth constitutional and statutory requirements, including independent examination, strategic management and Trustees Meetings and reimbursed expenses. Fund Strurture Unrestricted income funds are general f unds that are available for use at the Trustees, discretion in furtherance of the objectives of the Charity.
