Welfom¢ to ihe Allnual Cvenernl Meeting of The.Searth Memorial Hall.
This h28 been ano¢her very busy yegr for the hall. All the regul8r w¢¢kly 2nd monthly events run by
the hall Film Club, Quiz and the Open Mic. wntinue to be well attended. The Mond4y morning community
café continues to be very popular. and I must congr*tulate ihe organisers for iheir hard work and
dedication. Your help and support #rt very much appreciated both by the trustees and the wider
Community.
Once again h411 users and vi8itors 21ike are very impresscd wilb the fa¢ilitieJ we provide And with the
overall appearance of the ball.
The re%ular hireg continue ¢0 be g sub8tAntiAI part of the hall's in¢omt. I thank the user group
orggniBers for providing the communitv with iheir aelivities Ydnd their conlinu¢d support of the hall. If you
would like to join in any of the activities provided• ple*st see the TV screen for ¢ontset details or ask any
hall trustee.
We staged sev¢rnl one-off events throughout tbe year. These included the u5u#I yellout perforniAnce
by The C.#8tle Players with the plav-L4dieA Day". We #180 had two performan¢eA in conjunction with
Hlghlights Iyorth And several musi¢41 tvenbngs.
With reg4rds to hall maintenAn¢e. Last summer we had the hall redecorated and th¢ h911 floor WAS
sanded down to b4re wo(bd and retreated. We al￿ pur¢h¥sed 75 new ehairs which can stack on trolleys
making them much easier to h4Ddl¢.
As always, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our voluntters for their hard work and
commitment throughout the )ear. M'ithoul their help tbe h211 could Doi funclion. However, we Always
welcome new volunteers go if you or ¥nyone you know would like to help with m4intenaoee, existing events
or run neTrv events in the hall pkase spe*k to *ny tnisltt, thry will be avAilAble to ch%t wlth ¥fier this
meeting.
My thoughts on¢e Ydgain turn to the future. If you live in Stsindrop this hall belongs to you. We only
manage it on your behglf, and this meeting giTres you the opportunity to voiee yottr opinion on the direetiOD
you would like the hall to take both now and in the future. Several of the tru5tee5 hive served on the board
for many years And Sre not getting )'ounger. There will be 8 point when we are no longer #ble to Cydrry
out our duties in the management of this fine Community buildin& We desperately Meed more (younger)
trustees now 50 we ean have g succession plan in pl#¢e for them to take over the running of ihe ho118nd the
ehArity wben we are not able to do 50. If this d(bes not bappeo tben the fulure of the ball will be ill jeopardy.
I know I say this every year, but the outcome r¢m%ills the same.

Our constitution allows for up to I I trustees we have 6 At the moment. The trus¢ee's duti¢$ 4r¢ to
meet on¢¢ a month to oversee 4dher¢nee to all the regulatory bodies including the lieensing authority, music
licence regulotor, the charity commissioD and duty of employers to thelr cmployees. Although most of us
enjoy bein% eDRa2ed in tbe hands-on day to d*>. running of the hall il is not necessary for trustees to do that.
If anyone wishes to join the trustees to ensure lh¢ future running of the hall for the villag¢* plexse speak to
ony of the existing ¢rusttts after this meelingy or al other time! We w ill be happy ¢0 explgin the jub to
you aod hopefully welcome you onboard. If you look Ydt what the hall esn aehieve witb only 6 trustees
imagine what can bc don¢ with a full compliment.
