Burcott and District RDA – Report 2025 - 1176600

Our last AGM was held on the 19th November 2024.

Our Christmas session for the riders was enjoyed by all.

We also had our Christmas meal here in Blossoms.

The Group started back on 14th January 2025 but had to cancel the next session due to bad weather and flooding.

Several of us attended Mendip Farmers Point to Point in March and sold over £2000 of race cards for them. We subsequently received a donation of £400 for our efforts.

We now have a new Treasurer, Maddy Battye, thank you Maddie. Thanks also go to Judith who had previously been our Treasurer for many years..

We were fairly busy with riders up until the school summer holidays, with a cake and coffee thank you after the last session.

The group received a donation from Tesco's, thanks go to Harry for organizing that. We have now received the final tranch of this making almost £1500 in total.

A classroom clear up took place after the beginning of the new term to get rid of all the spiders. Julie organized a Volunteer training session on the 9th September prior to the riders returning on 16th September.

Unfortunately we now find ourselves with only 3 riders as our older riders have either moved on to secondary school or college.

We are working hard to attract more riders, hopefully from Coxley and Dovecote schools and have put up a number of notices in the hope of attracting further interest. The Group feature in an article in the November edition of the Mendip Times. A number of enquiries have been received from prospective volunteers and some the these will hopefully result in new members for the Group.

Paul has repaired Sarah's Seat for us. He's done a brilliant job. He is also working on the class room windows which are leaking badly. Thank you Paul.

Waitrose operate a customer vote based donation scheme similar the that of Tesco's and we are now on their list of future candidates for this so fingers crossed. Our name is also down for a table at the Cathedral Volunteers Day in the hope that we can attract future Volunteers or possible riders.

We've had quite a year with some volunteers having to go into hospital. Our thoughts are with you all and looking forward to everyone being fit and well for next year.

Thank you everyone for all your hard work, we couldn't keep the group going without you.
