Welcome: Welcome to the trustees annual report for Hope House ChurcMablethorPe. This report provides an overview of some of the key activities of the Church throughout Ihe year. 2023 has seemed a far more settled, normal year after the extraordinary interuptions of the pandemic. We have been able to return to full face to face meetings and even our Church net- works national celebration was able to take place for the first time since 2019. We are now a smaller Church than pre pandemic times but the spiritual life and activity of the Church remains healthy and we have a good core team of people who are very committod to the Church. We have consistently worshipped together both in person at Hope House and by broadcasting our Sunday services online to a mix of people across a wide area. We have weekly Childrens meeting* prayer meetings and a womens group. We have connected with the wider Church through the activities of Churches Together in the town and Groundlevel (of which we are a member) across the area and nationally. We continue to effectively serve our community through end of day food distribution, home- less support (including 7 supported living beds in our accommodation) and help and advise. This report provides details of the key areas and activities of the year. I would be set ree us I sing for all that u've do Hei5
Sunday worship: At the heart of Hope House is a wor- shipping community. Our Sunday ser- vice has been our most attended meeting throughout the year. Every Sunday we have live worship with Deb, Dave & Lisa (Also until mid way through the year with Joe) We also hold a Childrens meeting alongside our Sunday service. All our Sunday services have been broadcast to a small but committed online ¢ommuni- ty who join us on social media. While numbers have been small, nor- mally only around 30 people in per- son at Hope House, there has been a great sense of love and support wilh- in the fellowship. Heis Photos: Top. Our Sunday services follow a biblical teaching theme. Throughout 2023 the subjects we covered were: BELIEVE FOR The Values of Hope House Church Who you are in Christ. The power of speech Believing for growth. Prayer life: F•bruary We provide a number of ways for the Church to pray together. AYER & FASTING We held a 'Start the week with prayer, meeting every Monday morning. Thi$ meet- ing provides 30 minuites of prayer which people Can eonneet with at Hope House or online. Wllh Gaih rayer g ai We have also eonnectod with Ground Level Churches acros$ the area to facilitate area prayer meetings. Hope House provided one of the prayer hubs for local Churches to meet and connect with the other prayer hubs aeross our county. We also organise a prayer team from across the country who provide confidential pray- er to people who are facing a crisis. We are very grateful to this team who often have to pray into very difficult cireumstnees. We also provided the venue for the Church- es Together annual prayer gathering (see separate article elsewhere in this report.) l Hope orie - (LNI Mab 2AL) IllnK available Irom your iocai Church) Hum nn£(tion

Open House: Open House is the banner under which we carry out the outreach work of Hope House Church. This has historically been provided through the provision of a eafé. Our managar, Clairo's salary was funded for the past 2.5 years by Tudor Trust. Her funding ended in March 2023 and Claire d8- cided she would take the opportunity to retire at that time. This gave the Church leadership time to review how we provided support moving forward and the difficult decision was made to close the café and focus our support upon food distribution, one ot one support and homeless support: all of this to be provide through a team of volunteers. We knew this woud represent a big challenge as Claire was an excellent organiser but at the year end we have managed to operate a very busy food distribution network on 4 days of the week, homeless support and one to one support on 3-4 days each week. This has been a major change which has taken some time to adjust to but we are now confidently looking to 2024. Top left: Claire clelebrating her retirement with Open House clients. Middle & bottom: 70+ Christmas hampers ready to go out to people we are supporting through Open House.
Chosen: Our Chosen ladies group started on 9 th May 2023 The purpose of the group is to assist the members of the group to: HOPE Chosen tl Grow in ourfaith. tl Worship and praise God tl Bless and encourage one another. tl Reach out into the community. tl Have fun together. tl To witness that Christ is enough for us tl Pray for one another and for our eommunlty. We meet every Tuesday afternoon for about an hour, we do a variety of things at the groupy from craft, flower arranging to praying for one another. We have organised a monthly Community lunch called Lite Lunch, we run a bring and buy stall on the days we do the lunch. The proceeds from th8 bring and buy Stall enabled us to put on a free Christmas buffet for everyone that comes into Hope House. Tuesdays stsrti At H•y Clwtk M•bl¢tkoy• 9tk Maj All Iddies dre welcome! Since the group started we have welcomed about 141a- dies, not everyone comes each week , but people come when they Can . We pray for one another and have recent- ly committed to pray each week for those wo know who live with poor mental health.
Childrens work: Y'i/. At the moment as well as Glow-worms baby and toddler group) we Continue with provid- ing activities for children and youth who ac- company their families on a Sunday morning to church. We always include a slot in the all age part of the main Sunday service which gives a teaching point from the aetivilies we do with the children separalely. This is often enjoyed by all as it is multisensory and acces- sible to all ages and abilities. A number of older teenagers have moved on from the group leaving mainly younger chil- dren and one teenager presently. We have ad- justed our teaching materials to ac¢ommo- date this focusing first of all on a quick skip through the first main stories of the bible, and then continuing with particular subject$ from the bible. We mainly eentre on activities to bring out the main learning points from the week's bible theme such as games (which all ages can en- joy together), storytelling, objeet lessons and choice items such as crafts, colouring or puz- zles. Numbers of leaders and helpers has in- creased with a dedicated team of those will- ing to help. We have had discussions in the latter part of the year about revamping whal we do on a Sunday morning to make it more accessible to families who would rather drop off their children as they would at a club. It will be interesting to see how we can develop this in the coming year. IL
Glow-worms: Our Glow-worms baby and toddler group continues to be popular in the local area. We cater for all little ones under 5 with their parentsi grandparents. earers, aunt- ies etc. We have some families now where the adults who come along were once Glow-worms themselves!T Judy and Carole continue to run the group with the help of Kelly who stepped up in the latter part of the year to help when Carole was unwell and in hospital. The group has seen steady numbers and throughout the year we have seen new little ones come along to join us, and others move on to nursery and school. We had a busy summer doing our popular toddle for the Charity Barnardo's in the Sum- mer. This year we also visited the Lifeboat Station, and did a family trip to Sundown Park which turned out to be one of the rainiest days of the summer, but cheered up for us in the afternoonl Our weekly themes have been popular with children dressing for the part such as th6 colour red, and our week on pumpkins, also prineos and princesses. For Christmas we visited for the first time Rand Farm which was a lovely experience of not only seeing Santa. but mother Christmas, some of the elves and making Christmas bi$cuit$. For our last day at Christmas time we had our popular Christmas Party with lots of singing games and of course Santa himself.
Church weekend: Following on from the success of our first ever Church weekend, held last year, we decided to do a second on8 this year. We had a wonderful time over the Friday evening? Saturday and Sunday morning with Shirley Hardy from Grimsby. Over the weekend, Shirley shared about how her and her husband had fell Gods call to leaflet drop all of Lincolnshire with gospel ma- terial in the 1970's and how they had under- taken this work within less than 2 years. All of this while based in our area. Shirley had gone on to lead prayer campaign$ for national evan- gelists and in recent years had undertaken mission work to remote eommuniles in Aus- tralia. Quite an incredible testimony for a lady in here 80's who had been told as a child that her diasabilities meant she could do very little. Shirley was accompanied by Andy and Irene who led worship. We had a great weekend of testimonyg celebration and food. The poor weather didn't dampen spirits. Photos: Top: Shirley Hardy shared her amaz- ing story. Centre: The Church had fun togeth- er. Bottom left: Andy & Irene Gringer joined us to lead worship. Bottom right: BBQ in the rain!
Baptisms: We have been delighted to baptise 6 peoplo at 2 baptismal events during the year. Baptismal services are always a great time of celebration for the whole Church and both of these events provided a wonderful time to- gether. Unfortunately one of the baptismal pool$ sprung a bad leak the night before the ser- vice, causing the main hall to be flooded out. Fortunately) after one frantic late nights work, there was no delay in the servic8 going ahead and following a week of using two de- humidifiers Continuously? there was no permamant damage done! In the ease of a number of the baptismal Can- didates, their commitment was the culmina- tion of their completing a life course which was delivered by Claire. "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit . Acts 2:38
Churches Together: Churches Together are very active in Mable- thorpe and Hope House are delighted to sup- port the work of the wider Church in the community. Hope House hosted the first meeting of Churches Together in 2023, an evening pray- ar gathering. We also joined with the local Churchos for the first March of Witness sinea 2019 which was one of Ihe best attended for many years. Our Pastor, Nigel Collins was Chairman of Churches Together and one of our other member Earl Dunton was treasurer until the Churches Together AGM in November. yv 'rJ Judy from Hope House helped organise teams trom Churches Together to go into lo- cal primary school$ to present Open the Book bible stories. In September Hope House hosted tho first of 2 celebrations held by Churches Together which were well attended. Photos, Top: Churches Together celebration service. Centre: Open the book team. Bottom: Easter March of witness open air meeting. ICEC
Arise celebration: Ground Level Churches from the East Lindsey area arranged the second Arise celebration weekend at Skeg- ness. The first event, held last year had been intended to allow the wider Church to gather for worship after our national celebration was Cancelled due to the after effects of COVI D. We took the decision to hold the sacond year event as we felt it had been good for the Church to gather and be together. Drawing on the gifts of local Pastors and Church leaders, we put on a full programme of preaching? seminars and worship over three days on the theme of 'Supernatural.' Our own Pastor, delivered a seminar on The gifts of the Holy Spirit and Deb from our worship team played keyboard for the main Sunday session. l/. Following the Sunday meetingy there were number of baptisms on Skegness beach. Top left: Pastor Mandy Smith from Alford shared at the Sunday morning meeting. In brief: The Hope House bus took a team of 9 walk- ers representing 4 different Chur¢he$ from Churches Together, to Skegness for a 16 mile sponsored walk to help raise funds for the community work of Churches Together in Mabl8thorpe & Sutton on Sea. The walk raised in excess of £1000 which is an excel- lent effort. Projects include'school move on, books for local Primary School Children, Open tha book bibles for th8 primary schools and Christmas presents for the men in the Hope House hostel. In October we held our Harvest festival ser- vice at which we eolleeted long life foods for distribution to the two local food banks. A large amount of food was given and we were able to provide a generous donation to both schemes. We also held a Harvest Supper on the Wednesday evening which was well attend- In April one of our Hope House members, Tom Guest went to be with the Lord. Tom was a well known local Character who always had a story to share and was a great support to many. The photo shows Tom around 10 years ago when he attended a 24 hour pool tourna- ment to support our Hope House youth group in their fund raising activities. A celebration of Toms life was held at Hope House in May.
Awaken celebration: There has not been a national Ground Level Churches eel•bration since 2019 but after a four y•ar break the newly named event 'Awaken' was back. As a Church we had 8 people camping on site and 12 others who attended the event on at least one day. On the Sun- day, we operated the mini bus to the event. There was the usual round of excellent worship? main platform speakers, $em- inars and great fun time together at the Church camp. We are very Grateful to the Ground Level Network for providing bursaries for 3 of our familes to attend the event at no cost to them. Photos top.. Big Top worship. Lunches & Socials: A major part of Hope House life revolves around fellowship? food and celebration. Thi$ was foun- dational to the early Church life 2000 years ago and we believe it is vital to maintaining good strong Church community today. rL*.n We held a number of special gatherings from Church lunchesy special events such a Valentine, Harvest and Christmas meals together. In the summer we also enjoyed a garden BBQ at the home of Claire and Pete. The Chosen ladies group also put on som8 lighl lunches and some fund raising meals to help support mission work. Thank you to the Chosen Ladies group for putting on some excellent food and events for all to enjoy.

Plans for 2024: Our theme as we ended 2023 was'Believing for growth,, and as we enter 2024 we putting in place strategies to help the Church to grow during the year. We plan to launch a new mens ministry group and also to run an Alpha course, the first that we have done for a number of years. An important area of ministry is the work with the homeless men and we plan to transition the management of this work to our new support worker Tom. so that the Church Pastor Nigel can be released to work more on the ministry of the Church and its growth. During 2023 we focused on events that brought people together, we feel this is a vital ministry of the Church and will continue to focus on events that build Church Community. Psalm 37.5 (ESV) Commit your way to the LORD. trust in him, and he will act. Finances: We are very grateful for peoples generous giving to the ministry of Hope House, without which most of the work we do would not be possible. We have seen a reduction in regular monthy giving in the last quarter of the year. We will need to address this or reduce our operating Costs in 2024. We have seen alarming and significant rises in virtually all our operating costs. We have worked hard to address these during 2023 but wilh no sign of any reductions on the horizon we will need to maintain a tight rein on our overheads into 2024. We believe that our income and reserves are sufficient for us to operato without any financial burden as we enter into 2024. The trustees are very grateful to those who support our work through faithful and sacrificlal giv- ing throughout the year. A full set of accounts for the year are included with this report.
