INTRODUCTION There will probably not be a single trustees report for 2020 that will not mention Ihal this has been the most extraordinary year. The COVID19 pandemic has had a devastating effect upon ihe physical health and commercial life of our nation. Hope House Church, like many buslnesses and eharltles and communlty groups have had to adapt qulekly to the Immedl- ale needs of our Members, those we support and the wlder eommunliy In whleh we Ilve. Our year started incredibty normally. As we entered 2020 we felt the Lord had spoken a word io us for the New Year thal 'A WAVE IS COMING., We had inlended io use his word to leach ihe Church on evangelism but as we entered the year we feli ihe Lord iold us to WAIT. We spent the first weeks of 2020 slmply walilng and ieachlng the Church the slgnlfi- eanee of walilng on God. Llitle dld we reallse how slgnlficant these wordswould be as 2020 unfolded. ALL CHANGE iyj On Sunday 15th March we held what was to be our last Sunday worship s¢rvic¢ at Hope House for the year. W¢ w¢re b¢¢oming aware of th¢ increasing problem of coronavirus which was now spreading rapidly throughout the UK. On 17th March a lolnt meetlng of Hope House Church irustèes and leaders took the deelslon Ihat because of rlsing cases of COVID19, we would suspend our meetings ai Hope House and look to hold our meetings ¢)nline unlil things improved. We d¢cid¢d our focus would b¢ upon: Keeping the members connected in whatever way we could. K¢¢ping our members saf¢. Our building would only open for 1 hour a day to provide the essential food bags lo people in need. On Wednesday 18th Mar¢h we wer¢ contacted by som¢ local councillors who w¢re looking ta support people who were Isolated due to COVID19 by providing them with meals dellv- ered to th¢ir door. Hope H¢)us¢ w¢re asked if they would undertak¢ this w¢xk on b¢half of the community. At this stage we did not know exactly how many people would need sup- port. On Thursday 19th Mareh, our trustees had th¢ir first socially distaneed meetlng at Hope House (See photo abov¢) They agreed we should try to help our community out by providing meals as requested. W¢ were not exactly sure at this stag¢ what it would ¢ntail but we equally felt that the Lord was calling us to lake this step and to trust him for his provision to enable us to do the work. On Sunday 22nd Mareh Nigel and Judy Colllns were lained by Clalre Suddaby as we broad- cast a first liv¢stream service to th¢ Church¢s Fac¢book Pag¢ from Hope House. This was only possibl¢ with the technical brillian¢¢ of Joe Coburn on¢ of our Irust¢es who /Conl

ALL CHANGE (CONTINUED) Cont / h¢lp¢d us a¢hiev¢ a broadcast. W¢ w¢r¢ encourag¢d to see that so many of our m¢mb¢rs managed io ¢onn¢¢t to this s¢rvic¢ and we ev¢n had a numb¢r of people join us who we had known in the past. Part of this service included prayer requests and a number of these were posled up by people. On the 23rd March the Prlme MIn1￿er announced a natlonal lockdown. Thls was probably a shock to all who h¢ard it but we also had a s¢ns¢ that within a short p¢riod w¢ had pr¢- pared well for what was an unknown future. We agreed to do an online mid week fellowship on the Wednesday (251h March) from Nigel & Judy's house whlch we managed to achleve uslng Facebook Llve. Agaln we had good numbers eonneetlng In to ihe meetlng. During thisweek we started to receive calls from people who were isolated in their homes and vtho needed ihe hol meals we were providing. (More about this in ihe communily SUP- port section of this report) On Sunday 28th March, we broadcast a s¢rvi¢o using Fa¢¢book Live from our home (Du¢ to lockdown)This was to become the place for all Sunday services and mid week meetings for the remainder of the year (S¢¢ below)

KEEPING CONNECTED One of our main focuses during the pandemic has been to keep people connected as besl we can. We have broadcast an onllne service every Sunday and a mid week fell¢)wship group on most Wednesdays (w¢ took a couple ofw¢eks off during summ¢r) ¢v¢ry week sinc¢ th¢ pandemle started. We created a pastoral call team to ensure every person over 70 received a daily phone call and every member received a weekly call during ihe fir￿ lockdown. During second l¢xk- down, every person over 70 receives3 calls a week and occasion calls lo all members. These ¢alls have been a great help ta many who are otherwlse Isolated. By the end of March we started to produce a weekly newsletter to our Church member& This was particularly aimed at the few who could not connect to ¢)ur social media platform& We dld numerous e¢mpetltlons for ehlldren (alth¢)ugh many adults enjoyed them as well) to help them keep eonneeted In ta Chureh. (See photographs below) We held online family fun nights on Friday eveningsvia Zoom In September we started an Onllne 'Stari the week wlih prayer, whleh has seen a regular core group of people Connect together for 30 mlnutes of prayer at 9.30am on a Monday morning. We introduced Streamyard, an online platform to enable us to more widely broadcast our services and make them easier lo c¢)nnect to. This included eslablishing a YouTube chan- nel, building a brand new Facebook Page and doubling the membership of our old Face- book group.

KEEP CONNECTED Durlng a prolonged perlod of lockdown we have put a lol of ilme Into keeplng people connected. FACETO FACE Lockdown 1 (23 Mar¢h to 1 June) meanl that meeting for fac¢ to fac¢ worship was not possi- bl¢. Onc¢ r¢stri¢t¢d opportunili¢s to meet w¢re allowed our l¢adership team decid¢d ihatw¢ would only m¢ot when it was considered safe to do S￿ W¢ decided that as restrictions would make our meetings very different, we would keep Sunday online and hold a mid week face lo face meeting on a Thursday which would primarily be aimed at ihose who could not attend on Sunday& Social dislancing restricted our numbers lo 20122 and we averaged around 15 people each Thursday. Each service focused upon live worship (no singing by the congregation), word, communion (strict safely rules applied) and prayer. Our first faee to faee meetlng was held M 16th July to a full (22 people) hall. We were enc¢)uraged that the people who had been unable to join our online services were back attending the meetings at Hope House. We also saw some new people attend ¢>ur ser- vlees durlng thls perlod whleh was a greal encouragement as well as a number of peaple who had been perslslentlyjolnlng us onllne durfng the loekdown. On Thursday 29th Octoberwe c¢l¢brated the first birthday of Ev¢rly Bilson who many poople had been praying for sinc¢ b¢for¢ her birth and w¢ w¢re all d¢lighted to h¢ar of h¢r ¢xcellent progress. Everly's mum brought cakes tor everyone who attended (see photo b¢low). Unfortu- natelyTr thls proved io be our last face to face meetlng as a sharp rlse In COVID cases locally meant that a declslon to suspend face to face meetings was taken lo ensure everyone% safety. No further face to face meetlngs have taken place at Hope House this year, despile the gov¢mm¢nt allowing plac¢s of worship lo hold limited m¢¢lings we feel the safety of everyone needs to have priority and as such we have continued with our online meetings for the remainder of the year. Mid week Church Service E¥•ry Thur•day . 2.00pm e Hop• Hou St•rts on 16th July 2￿20 Face to Face At the year end, our meeilng hall has Increaslngly been turned over to ¢ommunlty wor providing f¢>Dd parcels to people in need and hot meals to people who are isolated in their homes due to COVID. We have also distributed large quanlilies of clothin9 and es- sential household items to people in need from the hall. Left: To celebrate Everly Bllsons blrthdayp each member of the congregation had a birthday cake ai vthat turned out to be our last face lo face meeting on 29th October.

COMMUNITY MEALS When th¢ first lockdown start¢d in March 2020, we decided to support Church m¢mb¢rs who w¢r¢ isolating in Ih¢ir hom¢s as b¢st w¢ could. A f¢w days later w¢ w¢re approa¢h¢d by our local Town Council who asked if we could assist them to support people whowere isolat- Ing with I hol meal a day delivered to iheir door. This was a confirmation to us of a word we had recently received from the Lord and although we did noi know at that slage how many people we would be supportingp we were sure ¢wr response should be YES. The lockd¢>wn meant that many of our Open Hous¢ Volunte¢rs had to immedlately self is lale. Howover, an appeal to the local community had an amazing response and a team of around 20 people came forward to assist with food preparation, ¢ookingg and delivery. B¢- tween Mareh and the end of the yearwe have supplied an Incredible 5850 meals lo people's doors, with 45 meals being the highesl number delivered daily. On lop of this, we have been supplied with a vasl amount of food from the local Co-operative store and Greggs baker& This, combined with food provided lo us by businesses that were closing f¢x lockdown and donations from the public enabled us to provide 2500 food bags to people who were struggling financially. The food distribution is done using a text back service. Peopl¢ r¢gist¢r to r¢¢eiv¢ a daily t¢xt informing them of what is available and a text back resenres a bag of food for cotlection. We have around 40 people r¢gist¢red at any on¢ lime and we do 20-25 food parcels daily. Photo -right top Christmas dinners being prepared. PRAYER CHANGESTHINGS Start the week with prayer Mondays @ 9.30am During lockdown, the prayer life of the Church has really stepped up a gear. Every Sunday and mid week meeting has a section for prayer and we have seen many answer& From April illl Julyp we held a 24 hour pray- er, where every 30 mlnutes was covered In prayer. IN BRIEF One of the maln fund raising evenls for the Churches Together Community activities is the Skegness lo Mablethorpe sponsored walk. This year, due to the limitations imposed by COVID one member fr¢xn each Church was asked to walk. Earl Dunton from ¢)ur leadership team who is also the ChurchesTo- gether treasurer to¢)k up the challenge and raised £350 In the proces& Well done Earl and all involved On August bank holiday weekend Ground-Level Churches normally camp together for ihe ONE Event Chrlstian celebratlon on the Llncolnshire Show- ground. This year, the evenl was held online as'ONE Event where you are, with speakers sharing via so- cial media. The production was excellent but we were all missing the experience of camping together as a Church and seeing old Iriends. We had a number of opportunities to share about our community work to camera. The BBC filmed for Look North about one of our guys from Hope House Homes whowas helping deliver meals to those iso- lated during COVID, we were featured on the ONE celebration for our community work and Nigel Oeft) was filmed by the massive HIS food distributlon charity for our support for people over Chrlstmas We launched our'Beyond these walls, project In mid May. the aim, lo fit our main Hall at Hope House with the technical broadcasting equipment to ena- ble us lo stream high quality live feed from our ser- vices to anybody who wants to join in. We raised just over £2,000 to enabl¢ us to complet¢ the first phase. We hav¢ d¢cided that for the future a 'hybrid' s¢rvice is the way forward (one that enabl¢s p¢ople to be pr¢s¢nt in th¢ building bul also is broadcast so people can Yi¢w it remotely).

HOPE HOUSE HOMES Hope House homes operate two supported IN- ing houses in th¢ lown both accomm¢)date 4 peopl¢. Sinc¢ lockd¢)wn started in March we hav¢ had to limit the amount our r¢sid¢nts can int¢ract with the wider community we have also had to limit th¢ numb¢r of volunteers and workers who enter the houses. This has presented chal- lenges and has meant for our house manager Claire an Increased workload. Desplte these re- striclions, our residenls have coped very well. Three men have moved onto independent living and have been given much support in order lo achieve this. One of our residents is pictured left with just some of the household items he was gifted by the wider c¢)mmunity in prepara. tlon for his m¢)ving on. .IY* A few of our residents have remained active in helping us serve the community during the y¢ar. A couple of resid¢nts helped with meal deliveri¢s, one ¢Yen got filmed by the BBC (soe arli¢l¢s ¢ls¢wh¢r¢ in this r¢port. One r¢sidenl also helped io bulld the glant nailvliy at the front of Hope House. In the summer, tho trust¢¢s agroed that we should employ an asslstant to Clalre and in Sepiember lan joined Claire in running the houses. lan has settled in well and is passionale about helping homeless guy& lan arranged a eouple of soelal evenings for the guys uslng money glven by a local councillor from his grant. In the photo on the right, lan can be seen to the right of the groupg taking three house residents bowling.

THIS ISTHE BBC A few weeks into the pandemic and we were c¢)ntacled by the BBCwho wanted lo come and film some of the work we were doing to support p¢ople wh¢ wer¢ Isolat¢d du¢ to COVID. When the crew arrived for a morning of film. ing they took a particular liking to one of our Hope House Homes residents who was help- ing with delivering food to people. The story line revolved around how he had lost his job as a long distance lorry driver had become homoless but was now using his skills to drive and deliver meals lo people whowere isolat¢d. The short film was aired on all thre¢ news slols on th¢ day it was broadcast ¢a¢h time it was slightly diff¢renl nd St also reeelved many views and comments on the BBC'S social media. The best news of all Is that shortly after ihe film was alred, Ihe resldent featured was able lo move on to independent living. Our eommunlty workwas also filmed and featured In the ONE Event Chri￿lan eel¢- bratlon on August bank hollday weekend and we were also filmed by the HIS Church publlclty department lo be featured In some of ihelr promotlonal work. GLOWWORMS Glow-worms ran on Friday mornings at Hope House up until March of 2020. We had taken a survey in January from those who visited regu- larly and had ¢hosen to put ¢)n a slt down sna¢k tim¢ and more trlps oul. The sit down snack time was very popular giving the children chance to try new snack ideas. It made Ihe room strangely quiet f¢x a few minulesl We ran a trip to'petite Sireet, in Holbeach where you can be a builder, Dr vel, café owner and join the police all toddler and baby style. Sadly ihiswas our lasl Irip oul. (We usually have several over the year.) We had io cease meeting ai Hope House in March due coronavirus. Some groups started using zoom, bui Glow-worms opted for Facebook options so families can watch live or catch up lalor. Our online sessions have be¢n popular, oxl¢nding our usual reach from local io national. We hav¢ a d¢volod following of famllies, and some that dlp In and out. The sessions can be walched on repeal and some of ihe children love to do ihis. Free crafis (presently paid for by Glow- womis funds) are sent oul lo those who wani ihem to continue the weeks theme at home, and families send in photos of the children joi ni ng in or their crafts. We have posted on our Fac¢book pag¢ things to k¢ep busy for toddlers during lockdown. A lot of older brothers and sisl¢rs have also joined in with th¢ online session

MORE NEWS IN BRIEF We were saddened to hear of the death of Carol Palmer. Carol, along with her husband John was baptised at Hop¢ House on Easter Sunday 201& Although John and Carol both moved away from the area shortly afterwards, they remain¢d in ¢onta¢l with a num- ber of Chureh members. Carol died followlng a long period of battling with cancer and will be missed by all at Hope House. Alan who came to live at Hope House Homes right at the start of lockdown quickly got involved volunteering at Hope Hous¢ helping d¢liv¢r m¢als and preparing the food bags for people in need. Alan also colleets food from the loeal supermarket late at nl9hi ready for people to colleel the next day. Alan reached retir¢m¢nt age during the year (although we wont l¢t him retire from volunt¢¢ring) so Kelly on¢ of our Open House volunteers baked him a cak¢. Thank y¢)u Alan for all you do. Despite the chaos caused by the pandemic to'normal, Church life, we tried to maintain some normality with Easter Christmas and Harvest celebrations held online. The photo shows the collecion of long life food which ¢￿r members brought in for harvest and which we distributed to the two local food larders to help people in need" a tra- dition which we were able to continue despite the re- stricli¢)ns imposed by COVID. AG We held iwo free rummage& People bring in go¢xl, clean bul unwanted clothing and we distribute it free of charge to anyone who needs it. Despite the need for some rigid guidelinos to ensure COVID compliance our last rum- mag¢ in November saw32 bags of good quality clothing and other it¢ms given away to peopl¢ in need. Thank you to ¢veryone who donated clothing for ¢)ur rummag¢s.

THE GIANT NATIVITY Th¢ real Christmas story provides 9r¢at hope for the world. Whal better time to share thal story than when ev¢ry¢)n¢ is in lockdown and feeling a bit 9lum. An initial idea from Claire Suddaby of a 'Giant Illuminated Nativity, weni from concept 10 32ft x16ft realily in just a few weeks. Lockdown meant the design had io be painted and prepared in Claire & Pele's back garden. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.

Independent examiner's statement

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

  1. Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements

  2. to keep accounting records in accordance with section 41 of the Act; and

  3. to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records; and

  4. to comply with the accounting requirements of the Act have not been met; or

  5. To which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

HOPE HOUSE CHURCH - MABLETHORPE NOTES TO THE ACCOUNTS FOR THE YEAR END 31ST DECEMBER 2020

Covid 19

During the year much of the work of Hope House and the associated Open House ministry was severly disrupted by the onset of the pandemic.

The café was closed and the kitchen was deployed to feed housebound people. The community bus was used to deliver meals to people's homes.

Hope House is immensely grateful for the support provided by Local Government and individuals to fund this outreach work.
