Objectives and Activities
The society is a voluntary organisation based at the Ice house, known as the Ice Factory, in Teignmouth. The society holds a 25 year lease of the Ice Factory commencing in 2014. The building currently operates as a studio theatre, rehearsal space, bar and office facilities. It benefits the public by providing access to the performance of drama, music, dance and the visual arts at an affordable cost, that they would otherwise have to travel further afield to find.
Performances
The Society has produced a total of seven productions during the year commencing with the traditional pantomime Snow White which was well received by audiences and introduced some new members to the society. This performance was one of two shows held in Pavilions Teignmouth which offers more seats than the Ice Factory (199 against 50) and means that a wider audience can benefit from the production. The remaining season offered a variety of entertainment for our customers including the ever popular Shakespeare offering – Much Ado About Nothing.
Our focus still tends to be based around the more popular scripts available to increase the chances of a larger following but we are also aware that we need to attract more diverse audience members so look to including at least one experimental show a year.
Keeping membership since Covid is still a bit of a problem as many people are still not attending indoor venues such as theatres. This has not had a major effect on our productions but does impact audience numbers and the Players will again show a loss this year, but we have contingency measures to cover any loss.
We will be looking to recruit additional trustees to help with the forward planning and strategy for increasing members and theatre attendances.
The compact size of the Ice Factory allows us to produce close up and personal productions which are well received by our audiences. We accept that this type of theatre is not for everyone so our productions at Pavilions Teignmouth allow us to offer good live theatre to a wider audience and we will continue to use both venues over the coming year.
The Teignmouth Players have built up a solid reputation for high standard productions and we intend to ensure that we maintain the respect and support of our supporters.

Type of governing document
The Society is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation which is governed by a constitution adopted on 5th January 2018. The first charity trustees were appointed on formation of the charity for a term of 3 years. New trustees are appointed as needed in order to work within the Society’s constitution.
The day to day management of the Society is delegated to a committee which is elected by the members. The Committee in turn delegates responsibility for various functions to coordinators who in turn report back to the committee
The committee of elected members normally comprises a chair, a vice-chair, a secretary and a treasurer, with oth-er members. They are elected by the full members of the Society present at the Annual General Meeting, which is open to all paid up members of the Society.
Management
The operational management of the theatre continues to take a large amount of time for a small group of people dedicated to the management, maintenance and operation of the theatre, both for the Society productions and for the use of other groups.
All people involved, give their time freely and voluntarily. The Society could not continue its work without their efforts and we are most grateful to them.
