restarting activity, LAERA was inactive
throughout the year.

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 As described in the summary of main
activities, LAERA was essentially dormant
throughout the year. This was a result of
forced suspension of group activities due to
Covid at the beginning of the year, and loss
of momentum among the remaining
committee and volunteers when activities
finally became legally possible.
The Trustees continued informal discussions
about whether there was any point in
attempting to continue with LAERA, as it has
struggled to establish an active support base
since inception as a registered charity in
2017. These discussions led to liaison with
another local group that shares many of
LAERA’s aims, to consider if there were
potential ways of merging. As the other
group was progressing to become a charity,
discussions were paused for the remainder
of the year, pending their anticipated
securing of charity status in 2022.
