To advance the education of the public by the establishment and maintenance of an archive of material comprising photographs, documents, artefacts and memoires relating to the RAF Pathfinders of WWII; to digitise the material and provide public access via the internet and to arrange displays with, and loan or donate material to, suitable museums for the purpose of public education.

Having had regard to the guidance on public benefit issued by the Charity Commission, the trustees have exercised their powers and carried out their duties by: 

- a. the continuation of the very active and successful website at https://raf-pathfinders.com/ and new website: https://rafpathfinders.com/ 

- b. the utilisation of social media such as Facebook to publicise the website and the charity’s work

- c. the collection from members of the public of a large number of digital photographs, documents and memoires, to add to the existing digitised collection, to save for posterity and for future research 

- d. the receipt of additional Pathfinder artefacts as donated gifts, to save for posterity and for future research

## Section D                      Achievements and performance 

**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** 

- a. the development of a new, thematically structured website, which will initially run in tandem with the old website, and the use of social media to publicise the charity 

- b. the collection from members of the public of a large number of digital photographs, documents and memoires to add to the existing digitised collection, to save for posterity and for future research 

- c. the receipt of additional Pathfinder physical artefacts as donated gifts 

- d. the carrying out of extensive research into the setting up of a museum-standard database of all the Archive’s assets, both digital and physical 

- e. the formation of links with other archives with a focus on the Pathfinders, especially Queensland Air Museum in Australia and the Pathfinder Collection at RAF Wyton. At the end of December 2020, a Memorandum of Agreement was signed with Queensland Air Museum to facilitate the interchange of information between the two archives. 

- f. the continuation of the Archive’s work despite the difficult circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, lockdowns and associated problems, which led (as with many other charities) to a major fall in fund-raising.
