The meeting was told the government issued a directive, saying the county councils should pay NOW card money up to the end of July. The meeting was told Stagecoach could not run the service (which they notified in

September). No other company approached to bid for the service could offer a suitable service, compared to Cumbria Classic Coaches.

Libby Bateman said the service was now linked to Smile Amazon. The initiative is designed to give money to the charity of their choice. Libby asked the meeting to publicise this far and wide. This was sent to the Friends of the 106 group.

The meeting was told the challenging environment of 2020 had caused two procurement processes to be carried out.

 **Treasurer’s report –** Chris Battersby had sent a balance sheet to the attendees via email. £7,000 had been received from parish

council; £1,500 had been received from Penrith Town Council; £845 had been received from the Friends of the 106; £1,500 had been received from Cumbria County Council. The Partnership had not received £500 from Clifton Parish Council. The total amount received was £17,782.32 as of November.

The expenditure for 2020 included £7,575.88 for Stagecoach, £55 for the Herald, £27 for the rent of Shap Hall. This resulted in £10,124 of funds, compared to £11,287 last year.

The meeting was told it did not get money on everything that people bought on Amazon. The meeting was told everyone should encourage this as much as possible.

The potential running costs (due to the change to Cumbria Classic Coaches) were as follows:

April 2019 to March 2020 – 4186 (2 days) - £18,914 (bus costs). April 2019 to March 2020 – 5868 (3 days).

The running costs for Stagecoach amounted to £18,914 (over two days). The potential running costs for Cumbria Classic Coaches amounted to £26,000 (over two days).

Chris Battersby said the money raised to pay Stagecoach was £18,358 over a three-day period. £12,262 was needed to help pay for the service (over two days).

The meeting was told 389 passengers used the (two-day) service in April 2019. This figure was declined to 252 passengers in March 2020. A total of 4,186 passengers used the service between April 2019 and March 2020.

The meeting discussed raising money to cover costs. Alison Morris said £15 was charged for the longest journey. Alison said 58% was claimed from the county council, as opposed to 54% for the partnership from the county council. Money should be available from Kendal BID and Penrith BID.

Libby Bateman said more people should be able to use the bus, especially if the partnership focused on marketing and PR. Alison said people should be able to travel to and from Carlisle.

JL raised the possibility of joint ticketing/ongoing fares. Chris Battersby said ongoing fares were not available just now, due to Stagecoach and Cumbria Classic Coaches having to divulge costs to each other. Alison Morris said the focus was on registering fares and routes to ensure they were nationally compatible.
