North East of England, to see
themselves as writers by
discovering and exploring creative
writing: and
Disseminating good practice in the
teaching of creative wriling in
schools and other education
establishments.

In recognising the Importan￿ of 'on the
ground. expertise when working in this
field, The Helen Bailey Trust continues to
work in partnership with Seven Stories
(The National Centre for Children's Books)
a registered charity whose mission is to
collect, champion and ￿lebrate children's
literature.
The principles and primary objectives of
this ongoing and successful partnership are
to deliver innovative learning programmes
that inspire and enable young people and
their teachers in the North East of England
to lake diverse approaches to creative
writing by sparking empathy with the
creative PrO￿ss, develop increased
confidence, imagination and stamina in
creative writing and to enable them to
begin to see themselves as writers.
Following the successful completion of Ihe
2022123 programme, the Trust funded an
expanded and extended programme of in-
school based leaming aclivities for the
2024125 academic year. the original
intention being to continue the programme
of aclivitses at St. Lawrence Primary in
Byker and supplemenl this with a second
programme of activities at an additional
school in the region.
In the event, this did not come to fruition,
and it was agreed to roll over the unused
tKJrtion of the funding into the 2025126
academic year to continue to support
activits'es at St. Lawrence Primary for the
benefit of its pupils.
