The main activities undertaken for the public benefit during the year were a public lecture on the Sistine Chapel on the year of the Jubilee in Rome; Book club events, including a special event on the Italian translation of Manon Steffan Ross’Llyfr Glas Nebo (The Blue Book of Nebo); Film presentations. Here are the details: Tuesday 19th November: Bookclub La Stagione in Giallo - crime fiction - _Almost Blue_by Carlo Lucarelli. Private home of one of the ICCW’s members. Wednesday 4th December: A public lecture delivered in English by dedicated art historian Andrea Domini, revealed the secrets of the Sistine Chapel in Rome. With the Giubileo (Jubilee) approaching in 2025, this lecture provided a timely opportunity to explore Rome's rich artistic heritage. Thursday 30th January: Bookclub, La stagione in Giallo – crime fiction –La Pista Nera by Antonio Manzini. Private home of one of the ICCW’s members. Saturday 1st February Giordano Ferla Piano Recital 'An evening of piano music by Handel, Schubert, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Spearing and **Stravinsky'. ** |

A very Special Book Club event in collaboration with Wales Literature Exchange reading and discussion of the Manon Steffan RosIl libro blu di Nebo - the Italian Translation of the multi awarded Welsh novelLlyfr Glas Nebo - The Blue Book of Nebo. Insole Court, Fairwater Rd, Cardiff CF5 2LN Sunday 16th February presentation and screening of Vermiglio (dir. Maura Delpero) + Q&A, Chapter Cinema, Market Rd, Cardiff CF5 1QE Wednesday 2nd April, to mark the celebration of the quincentennial birthday of the great Renaissance composer Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina (1525-94) we organised a talk with live music on his strategic role in Italian (and European) music. The event, run in partnership with Early Voices Wales Festival (9-11 May 2025 in Llantwit Major) and The Fountain Singers choir, took the form of a talk (in English) by artistic director Anna Cristoni-Apel accompanied by live performances of the Fountain Singers. Para 1.20 | This period of time, thanks to the new arrival of two members of the ICCW team we managed to organize a substantial and varied events, that contributed to raising good number of membership and to reach a good portion of both the Italian and Welsh community in Cardiff and the surrounding areas. We have a solid presence in Wales. We keep on raising awareness of the importance of Italian culture and language learning in Wales. |
