for our children.
Boys and Girfs Mentoring
Wise Ways- Boys Mentoring
Tehila believes in helping young people to
safeguard themselves. The Wise Ways
intervention was piloted in 2023. The
program was piloted with pupils from Kline
School, one of our partner sthools in
Zambia. We engaged with 20 boys aged 9
15 years. in the boys-to-men mentoring
program and the forms were given to the
identified 20 boys to take to their parents
for consent. Guiding boys through their
teen yeaTS toward healthy manhood is the
goal of Wise ways.
Flourish - Girls Mentoring
The Girls Mentoring program
was
developed in ￿nSultatiOn with six pupils
aged 14- 16 years from Kline Scho￿. The
Girls. mentoring program was developed by
VIVA Intemational. and it has been
contextualised to the tocal needs. The 22
recruited girls provided input on the tOPiL
covered in the Ilourish materials and what
other topic they would like covered in the
mentoring sessions. This program was
piloted during the year.
Tough Talks
Tough Talks are a series of story-based
flipbooks that add￿sS taboo topics with
children in an age appropriate and Child
friendty way. Children are taught key safety
messages within the story. Touch Talk
addresses the topic of sexual abuse and
Pom Talk addresses the dangers of
pomography. Bully Talk has been
developed to deixease the prevalence of
anti-bultying
and promote
safe
environment for children.
Counselling
The Shalom Centre, located at the Tehila
main Office in Lusaka and community hubs
is the space that we use to provide
psychosocial support to child survivors of
abuse and their families. Cases are
reported to the Shalom through churches,
schools, organisations, family and others.
Our counsellors were trained by Petra
Institute using The Walking with Wounded
Children module. Those trained included 2
Tehila staff. and 6 communty volunteers
from the various platforms where Shalom
xjmmunty hubs will be established.
