We have a committee who are second to none, they give their time generously and the trustees are proud to have them onboard.
During the financial year 2024/25 the committee have continued to successfully hold various fund raising events. The results of these events has meant that all annual costs have been met but sadly for the first time we have made a loss. The demographics for the village show a diminishing number of young families moving in with small children that would use the play park. This in turn reflects upon the support for the activities and hence the overall funds.
The equipment was originally installed in 2016 is now showing signs of some wear and tear, and failure of some components, whilst most of the equipment is still under a warranty, focus is being driven towards repairs and replacements where necessary. Weekly visual inspections are carried out with the help of the lodge trust. The quarterly and annual inspections are carried out by specialists.
Our main annual cost is for the liability insurance which has risen somewhat over the past 3 years and is now close to £1,000 per annum. We value the support not only from the residents of Market Overton, but also from the neighbouring villages and towns and would like to express our sincere thanks for your continued support so we can keep the play park alive.
Sadly we still get a few people who think it is right to exercise their dogs within the curtilage of the play park, we have increased the number of notices informing visitors that this is a children’s play park and therefore dogs are not permitted.
