Due to Covld-19 we were unable to hold our 3 prmle event and march in 14orthumberfand and rfrdirected our
energy and resour￿5 into scaling up existin8 ser¥ice delivery and lauKhed new one&
We delivered various projecls thanks to funding from local. reglonal. afKI national funding Ixxlie5. We'¥e
supported vlctims of domestic and sexual violence and abuse through wrt from Northumbria Police and
Cfim&Commissioner.andthe.Ministry of.Justir*.
We hand-delivered hundreds of Wellbeing Bags across Northumberland and the wider North-Ea5t. from the
borders of Scotland to the borders of Cumbria. These went to LGBT+ people of all ages. Some of our ba85
included pre-paid sim cards for th￿e m05t vulnerabk.
A5 restTirtions eased. we were able to continue delivery, which included sessions for YOU￿ people.
Durlng this dlfficult year. we learned a lot. We found that ourwork was vital. and a lifeline for many. We took
what worked best and replicated it across Ix>undaries.
We found that working together was crucial and have worked as part of mtslti-agency partnerships on
ollaborative basis across various thematic issues.
Pfide, for many. is the annual safe space for LGBT+ people and allies. As a result of Co¥id-19, we were unable to
dellver this crucial safe space that is also a vitsl pktform for our partners to reach LGBT+ people. We have and
will continue to work across boundaries to provide what LGBT+ people need alongside our partners.
Engagernent ha5 increased this year. with the development of new projects. Feedback has been positive. in
particular where v￿'re able to provide support that would tske months due to ststutory waiting tirnes.
Whilst ivs disappointing.that we are unable to deliver all our planTred activitie5 due to the pandemic. this hasn't
hampered our success and it show5 how adaptable we are a5 an or8ani5ation. We anticipate that we will see
exponential growth, as we exit a period of great uncertainty across all of our actNities. This is based on existing
engagement in our comm￿rtY development work within the county and ￿nd.
Northumberland Pride has a8ain brought LG8T+ issues to the forefront. to celebrnte and ratse aw8reness of
equlty, equality and dlversity but a150 deliver crucial services for the o)mmunities we serve.
The Charity was able to recruit a new Trustee in this this period and corrtinues to attract new volunteers with the
ri8ht skills into the future in order to achieve its Objertp￿s.
LG8T+ people have suffered greatly as a result of Co¥id-19. not least because of the numerou5 inequalities thev
face as a result of their sexuality andlor gender identity. Covid-19 exacerbated already marginalised communities
and by scalin8 up servlce delivery we were able to support LGBT+ people when they really needed IL
Sl8nifi¢ant Actlvltles
The main actNity of the company this year was the delivery of new service line4 and in particular a serwice that
supports victims of Domestic and Sexual Violence and Abuse. Mentsl Health and wellbei￿&. Aside from this we
have focused on the xale up of our delivery foryoun8 people.

Publlc Benefft
Northumberland Pride Is a unique asset to the County of Northumberland which. despite our presence. still has
limited or8anisations whose overarching objectives are solely for LGBT+ people. We raise awareness of LGBT+
issues, that can be challenging and identify ways in which we can use our platforni and positions to support
people locally as well as being part of an ever-recognisable global movement. We are able to engage with
individuals and or8anisations at all levels in an indusive way for the benefrt of the public.
Volunteers
We ran most of our actlvlties through the year wlth amazing volunteers whom without their support it 5impty
wouldn't be possible to deliver what we do. Volunteers tske on a variety of roles in Yaryin8 degrees of length
from being a committee member. to being a ￿ndraiser or march steward.
Northumberland Pride is run by Voluntee￿ whom skills and experien￿ deliver much needed prog￿$$ locally and

FINANaAL REVIEW
Financial posltlon
General fund income in the period was £57.726, primarity frorn grants. donations. and Sponsorships. Expenditure
was £25,301 resulting in a net expenditure of £32,425.
Reserves policv
At 30 April 2021. reserves are £39.370 12020 £6.945) due to the organisation running as a not for profit
organisation whilst tsking particular Ca￿ to ensure the charity achieves its objectives and satisfies its creditors.
Goin8 ¢onom
As our or8anisation grows we must ensufe that our revenue is protected. The Trustees rethgnise that we cannot
rely on one source of income in onler to achieve our objectives and so use various income raising activities In
order to achieve this.
Covid-19 has presented a unique and major challenge for our organi5ation: the cancellation of our 2020 main
events is deva5totinB to the Many LGBT+ people who rely on pride, to the oruanisations that we work with whom
we provide unique opportunities to engage with LGBT+ people for their be￿ and to the &xal economy and it5
people.
Covid-19 has had a devastating irnpact on the physical and mental health and wellbeing of LGBT+ people who are
disproportionately affected by the pandemic. In Northumberland. issues such as rurality and its isolating Pdctors
put LGBT+ people at a disadvantage.
The Trustees constantty review5 fundiNd Opportunities and will conttnue to accelerate its work in community
development in order to meet the needs of its beneficiar*s durin8 thi5 uiiprecedented time and anticipate an
inCr￿e of thi& into 20211202Z.
Social attitudes to LGBT+ people have ￿reSSed during the Covid-19 pandemic. Regukr policy changes will
continue to have an impart on the fvture of facfrto-face Northumberland Pride events. Despite the Trustees
committing to a Northumberland Pride Festival event in 2021. this will largefy be scaled back and with a major
gap in funding. It is expected that future major changes will be required to Sustain the Northumberland Pride
Festival beyond 2021 and the Trustees main objective is to tske a balanced approach in order to protect the
future of the charity.

The general fvnd wa5 in credit at the end of the year by £39.370 (2020 £6.9451.
Plans for future perlods
The 5hort-term priority for the chafity continues to be the delivery of community drrven projett work in line with
our objectives which has so far allowed the charity tts shift its prtorities from a rnainly face to face events based
organisation to a key Servi￿ delNery organisation for LGBT+ people in Northumberland and beyond. Our focus
remains on the mental health and wellbeing of LGBT+ people and in particular supporting and ￿Sourc1ng groups
and activities for young people collaboratively.
In the medium-tem we will focus on the recovery of face-bFface events during sustained shut-downs. and. in
particular: work with our key stakeholders to deliver fa￿ to face events including pride. which is a key event that
prior to the pandemic was successfulty engag1￿ thousands of LGBT+ citizens. This includes taking a batsnced
funding approach to delivering Northumberland Pride Festival in the future a￿1 tsking into account the financial
vlability of su5tainin8 the ￿ent.
In the lon8-term. thè charlty will continuè to strengthen Its finaThclal reslllence is ah organtsatlon so that It eaii
maintain vital service5 for LGBT+ into the future.
Prlnclpl rlsks and un¢ertalntles
The principal risk to the charity is short-tenn grant funding and unrestricted income sources. The change in
funding prioritie5 may irnpart the chartties ability to meet a growin8 demand for ser4tces into the future.
Unrestricted income sources remain limited due to the impart of CoYid-19. The Trustees envisaged increase in
demand is certain into the next period as a result of Covid-19 and new challenges.
Northumberland Pride Festival 2020 was pOst￿ned and whilst it is known that outdoor events will be able to
take place, the artual limitations a￿ unknown. The Trustees have and will continue to seek to recover costs paid
for its events that will not take place or where appropriate a5 detemiined by the Trustees with professional
advice as appropriate.
There 15 a high risk that in 2021 the event will either be postwned or scaled back so that the tntstees can meet
their additional legal obligations against emergency legislation and public health poliry which would likely incur
iKrea5ed expenditure in any event.
The Trustees believe Covid-19 will continue to affect its abilrty to raise sufficient funding to dellver Its annual
LG8T+ festival as a result of an unprecedented intrease in costs. Despite this. the Trustees plan is a scaled back
community event that is financialty viable and in line with its objectives as5urni￿ restrittions allow this. although
this may be at a dlfferent time than forecasted i.e. A￿uSt 2021. The pandemic has allowed the Trustees to
accelerate its plans for community based proiect ¥w)rl T*hich has allowed it to meet the needs of LGBT+ people
at thi5 very unique and difficult time.
The future plans of the charty will be affected and 8uided by continued grave U￿ertaInty in the handling ofthe
Covid-19 pandemiL As such the ability of the Trustees to execute this plan will be guided by this fact and its
statutory ￿SpOnSibl1111es and may be limited. at short fK•tKe.
Despite these facts. the Trustees forecast the level of funding required to meet its objective5 on a regular basis $0
that they are in a position to meet the charl￿$ obli8ations.
