## **Objectives and activities**

## **Objectives of the Charity**

In setting our objectives, and planning our activities, we have given careful consideration to Charity Commission's guidelines on public benefit. Charity's objectives are: - The advancement of catholic faith and Christian beliefs for the benefit of public in accordance with the statements of beliefs of the roman catholic church by the organisation of prayer meetings, conferences, lectures, retreats, public celebrations of religious services, missions and similar events.

- The production and distribution of literature and the broadcasting of information using modern media to enlighten others about the catholic faith.

- The training of individuals and groups to further the work of evangelisation and any other related activities which support the promotion of Christian beliefs.

## **Achievements and performance**

As we started to recover from the COVID pandemic, the charity started to conduct face to face prayer meetings and spiritual events while continuing to benefit from the use of online platforms to deliver various spiritual services like spiritual sharing, healing prayers, and online adoration, to name a few.

The charity has changed its name on the 23rd of May 2023 from its original name “Anointing Fire Catholic Ministries” to “Preachers of Divine Mercy (PDM), Birmingham”.

The Charity conducted retreats in the months of November and May during the financial year. The retreats were highly welcomed by many young people.

The Charity continued publishing the printed version of its children’s magazine, "Little Evangelist" again last year. By God's grace, the charity continued to support some families with more than four children in India in need of support for day-to-day life through the "More Children More Anointing" (MCMA) Ministry. The funds were collected through voluntary donations. The support helped the families’ meet necessities and helped their physical and mental wellbeing during the difficult times.

The Charity continued delivering its services to people in North Indian state of Punjab, Fr Soji Olikkal was blessed to lead the activities in this area. The services the Charity providing here are helping people to strengthens their believes in Christ, empowering them to face the difficulties in life with a new attitude. The daily prayer meetings and weekend community prayer meetings helped participants to re-gain their belief in Christ and become more empowered to face difficult situations in life. Looking ahead, the charity aspires to broaden its activities in line with its objectives to reach a wider community.

The Charity has progressed in its Gift Aid claim and received its first claim in May 2023 for £13,251.76. The money received helped the charity to deliver its objectives. Thank you to UK government for introducing the scheme.

## **Financial review**

The charity's principal funding source is from donations, donations from sale of Little Evangelist Magazine and Events admission fee. In comparison to the previous financial year the charity had £12k less cash receipts, mainly due to decrease in receipts in donations and event subscriptions. The gift aid receipts helped to keep the receipts to £62k. In comparison to the previous financial year the charity had £18k less cash payments. The decrease in expenditure was mainly due to decrease in "Resource Person" and hall booking. At the end of the financial year the charity has a closing cash balance of £22,500 in its bank account. This is an increase of £12k despite the decrease in donations, the increase in cash balance is due to the receipt of Gift Aid in May 2023.

## **Reserve policy**

It is the policy of the charity to maintain unrestricted funds at a level which equates to approximately three months unrestricted expenditure. This provides sufficient funds to cover management and administration and support costs.

The trustees' annual report was approved and signed on behalf of the board of trustees by:
