Objectives and Activities

The objects of the CIO are:

Summary of the main activities in relation to those purposes for the public benefit, in particular, the activities, projects or services identified in the accounts (SORP para 1.17 and 1.19).

Improved care for breast cancer patients – Continued funding of training and professional development courses for breast care nurse specialists and other nurses involved with breast cancer patients at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. Provision of acupuncture sessions, fitness and well-being courses for patients living with secondary breast cancer.

Purchasing of equipment to improve the diagnosis and treatment of patients with breast cancer.

The trustees have reviewed the guidance issued by the Charity Commission regarding the public benefit of the Charity’s activities (SORP para 1.18).

Achievements and Performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole (SORP para 1.20).

Patient well being remains an important element of the Charity’s work. Despite the COVID19 pandemic, we continue to support an acupuncture service and fitness classes for patients with secondary breast cancer. We continue to maintain a petty cash system at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Breast clinics, which allows us to purchase items for elderly and vulnerable patients such as a taxi home or a surgical support garment.

This year the charity continued to support the patient journey App to help patients and their families navigate through breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.

The accounts were prepared using the Financial Reporting Standard for Smaller Entities (FRSSE). At the end of the financial year, the charity is in a healthy financial position with £244,584 in the current account.

The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under s.144 of the Charities Act 2016 (The Charities Art) and that an independent examination is needed It is my responsibilityto examine the accounts under s.145 of the Charities Art follow the procedures laid down in the general directions given by the Charity Commission (under s.145(5)(b) of the Charities Act) and to state whether any particular matters have come to my attention Basls of Independent examlnerfs statement My examination was carried out in accordance with general directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records.
