L3 TA; 3 x distinction & 5 x pass (although all got distinction in classroom observation) - Destinations of 2021 leavers; 4 x L2 = L3 Progression, 5 x L3 = jobs (new or existing employment by their school), x 4 L3 progressed to L4. Another 4 x EPAs in January-March - OFSTED Visit - Outstanding Training Provider (Sept 2021). Letter from Alex Burghart, Minister for Skills letter - 17 New Learners; 3 x Pathways in 2021/22; L2 Community Activator Coach Learners (x7) & L3 Teaching Assistant (x6) & L4 Sports Coach (x4) - New p/t Tutor – L4 (L3) - Other employers; MSB Woolton - Links to Traineeships; good relationship with LLS, & developing with JM Education - Learning is hybrid lessons learnt from COVID and is going very well & more observations being done by school staff - Gifted Levy funding from Amazon. - As of 13/12/21; LSSP Foundation employs 15 apprentices ## Future - Keep eye on other providers. - General TA courses (not just PE) to signpost to JM Education - Fitness L2? – links to community Page **1** of **4** ## **(2) Active Families Project** Awarded Sport England Small Grants @ £9984 (Oct 2019) & LCC This Girl Can @ £6000 targeting 8 schools – delayed due to COVID Project outline - Improving physical activity levels of the whole family - Encouraging families and communities to spend time together - Encouraging family participation in physical activities in their community - Improving the relationship between schools and parents; engaging them in school life and enhancing pupil’s learning. Developments: COVID – not a priority of schools Tutor trained, then left new job New Tutor Withdrawn Stockton Wood; new Head - SE end report submitted (21/11/21) – submitted & told issues, hoping to discuss with a case officer to redesign project ## **(3) Girls FA School Sport Partnership** - Amount Awarded per annum; £6,000 by FA - New staff member leading this project - Rachael Grace - Third year in partnership with The FA and YST – supported by Barclays to support the vision 'Every girl has equal access to football in school by 2024.' - • Currently we have 15 Secondary schools and 31 Primary schools that are engaging - Schools have accessed a variety of face to face & virtual CPD to support and encourage girls to be active using football as the vehicle. - Schools receive resources and other incentives including equipment to help embed girl’s football. - COVID has impacted engagement in this programme ## **– (4) Crossfit to Wellbeing funding now finished** - Continuing to run the programme through other funds – Sport England Teacher Training. ## **– (5) Fighting for a Future funding now finished** - - Violence Reduction Funding is available but now only focuses on community ## **– (6) Finding My Potential UEFA Foundation (£44,000)** - Covid put back the start date a term - Started date – January 21 - - 11 Schools engaged at various phases Page **2** of **4** _'In May 2021 Jenna Downing from the YST, organised by the LSSP, came in to complete a session with 20 of our newly formed year 9 sports leaders. The course was designed to empower these leaders as Young Mental Health Champions, little did we know at the time what an amazing and wide-reaching impact this was going to have on our young people._ _The day was really well received by the leaders and motivated them to want to help the students of our school. I was part of the presentation at the end of the day as judge and I was blown away by the plans the students had made._ _After two weeks of further planning, we established a new after school club called 'Multisports' that was aimed at year 7 and 8 students who do not usually attend PE clubs. This ran for the rest of the term and was a huge success. It was so successful in fact that we put Multisports back on the extra-curricular timetable in September! It takes place after school on a Wednesday and we regularly have 50 students in attendance taking part in dodgeball, football, basketball and bench ball to name a few. This is all ran by our, now year 10, Young Mental Health champions and is a huge success for our school. I have never before been prouder of a group of students for seeing through an idea and running one of our most successful after school clubs._ _We owe a great thanks to Jenna, the YST and the LSSP for giving our students this opportunity. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2015). ## **INCORPORATION** The charitable company was incorporated on 6 December 2017. ## **OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES** LSSP Foundation is dedicated to providing all children and young people with the best possible PE, School Sport and Physical Activity experiences. ## **The objectives of the CIO are:** Helping young people through school and leisure based activities to develop their capabilities so that they may grow to become mature, responsible individuals and members of society who recognise the importance of physical activity ## **Significant activities The main activities of the charity are:** To increase participation and engagement To provide appropriate sport/leisure/education training opportunities - To provide a broad range of engagement activities ta Information, Advice, Guidance - To provide access to appropriate mentoring and counselling Education and training - To act as a resource for education and training for disaffected young people - To generate and support Research projects relating To the impact of increasing physical activity on young people's healthe and well-being. ## **Public benefit** The trustees confirm that they have complied with their duty to have due regard to the guidance on public benefit published by the Charity Commission in exercising their powers or duties. The public benefit of the charity's activities is outlined above. ## **ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE** ## **Charitable activities** The Trustees met regularily in the year of this report. The main achievements of the CIO during the year were as follows: Apprenticeships 20 Learners; 20 graduated with Apprenticeship From 20 Learners; 8 went onto further learning, 5 gained employment and 3 went onto University. In autumn 2021 we faciliated 3 new pathways and 17 new learners start. We secured gifted Levy funding from Broadgreen and Liverpool University NHS for 3 new learners. Active Families grant £9984 and LCC grant This Girl Can £6000. Payroll was sucessfully set up in September 2020 for those apprentices employed through LSSP Foundation. Leadership: We delivered leadership opportunities to 385 secondary aged students who engaged with 120 younger pupils through delivering nurture clubs. Wellbeing Programmes: We delivered a wellbeing and mindfulness programme to 180 school girls experiencing poor mental health and to 150 disaffected boys Girls FA School Sport Partnership: we are the key strategic delivery partner for this FA programme in Liverpool. The aim is for girls to have equal acess to footballing opportunities. All KPI's achieved for secondary schools and for 50% of primary schools. The main ongoing challenges are as follows: - To make it financially viable & cover true overheads in the short & the longer term we intend to become an employing body - successfuly completed - Research – we worked in collaboration with Edge Hill University to ensure we have robust monitoring and evaluation systems to measure impact - this was completed and was also supported by Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine Research dept. - Build expertise in our bid writing capacity to ensure we can apply and source relevant funding - unfortunately Covid has meant we haven't been able to fulfill this Suzanne Ramsey resigned as Trustee and we had difficulty finding a replacement Covid delayed some project delivery **FINANCIAL REVIEW** Financial position The charity's results for the financial year ending 31 December 2021 are set out in the attached financial statements and notes. 2 ## **REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31ST DECEMBER 2021** ## **STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT** Governing document LSSP Foundation is a charitable incorporation organisation (CIO) governed by its constitution dated 2 December 2017. The members have not required the company to obtain an audit of its financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2020 in accordance with Section 476 of the Companies Act 2006. The trustees acknowledge their responsibilities for (a) ensuring that the charitable company keeps accounting records that comply with Sections 386 and 387 of the Companies Act 2006 and {b) preparing financial statements which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charitable company as at the end of each financial year and of its surplus or deficit for each financial year in accordance with the requirements of Sections 394 and 395 and which otherwise comply with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 relating to financial statements, so far as applicable to the charitable company. ACCOUNTING POLICIES** ## **Basis of preparing the financial statements** The financial statements of the charitable company, which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102, have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP (FRS 102) 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2015)', Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland' and the Companies Act 2006. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention. ## **Going concern** The Trustees believe that the CIO's financial statements should be prepared on a going concern basis on the grounds that future funding will be adequate to meet the CIO's needs for a year of at least 12 months from the date of approval of these financial statements. ## **Income** All income is recognised in the Statement of Financial Activities once the charity has entitlement to the funds, it is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably. Donations are only included in the SoFA when the charity has unconditional entitlement to the resources. ## **Expenditure** Liabilities are recognised as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the charity to the expenditure. All expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all costs related to the category. ## **Taxation** The charity is exempt from corporation tax on its charitable activities. ## **Fund accounting** Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discretion of the trustees. Restricted funds can only be used for particular restricted purposes within the objects of the charity. Restrictions arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for particular restricted purposes. Further explanation of the nature and purpose of each fund is included in the notes to the financial statements. ## **2. The members have not required the company to obtain an audit of its financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2020 in accordance with Section 476 of the Companies Act 2006. The trustees acknowledge their responsibilities for (a) ensuring that the charitable company keeps accounting records that comply with Sections 386 and 387 of the Companies Act 2006 and {b) preparing financial statements which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charitable company as at the end of each financial year and of its surplus or deficit for each financial year in accordance with the requirements of Sections 394 and 395 and which otherwise comply with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 relating to financial statements, so far as applicable to the charitable company. These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions applicable to charitable companies subject to the small companies regime. ACCOUNTING POLICIES** ## **Basis of preparing the financial statements** The financial statements of the charitable company, which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102, have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP (FRS 102) 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2015)', Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland' and the Companies Act 2006. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention. ## **Going concern** The Trustees believe that the CIO's financial statements should be prepared on a going concern basis on the grounds that future funding will be adequate to meet the CIO's needs for a year of at least 12 months from the date of approval of these financial statements. ## **Income** All income is recognised in the Statement of Financial Activities once the charity has entitlement to the funds, it is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably. Donations are only included in the SoFA when the charity has unconditional entitlement to the resources. ## **Expenditure** Liabilities are recognised as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the charity to the expenditure. All expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all costs related to the category. ## **Taxation** The charity is exempt from corporation tax on its charitable activities. ## **Fund accounting** Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discretion of the trustees. Restricted funds can only be used for particular restricted purposes within the objects of the charity. Restrictions arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for particular restricted purposes. Further explanation of the nature and purpose of each fund is included in the notes to the financial statements. ## **2.
