We work with MoBSE (Ministry of Basic & Secondary **during the year** Education) and the local school ‘Boards’. Our projects are implemented by an organisation called the ‘Gambian Management Team’ (GMT), who are capable and experienced locals. GSS has continued to help build the capabilities and capacity of the GMT to enable it to become an established service provider. We support a bespoke ‘Teacher & Training Development Program’, recognised as being one of the best of its kind in the country. Thie program comprises an intensive course of workshops which all the teachers attend. We have also set up a team of 3 coach/inspectors who visit each school monthly to provide ‘on the job’ coaching in the classroom and complete an inspection. The teaching has been steadily improving. This has been measured since March 2023 with every teacher being appraised at the end of each term. We have now adopted the UNICEF ECDI2030 method of assessing the development of the children which will enable us to measure the impact our intervention is making. GSS’s plan is to grow the project as quickly as the constraints allow.
