Trustees’ Annual Report for the Charity Commission for the year ending 30th June 2022

Religious functions, lectures and teaching

1. Our sister charity Ahmadiyya Anjuman Ishaat Islam Lahore (UK) uses the Centre at 15 Stanley Avenue, Wembley, owned by AALF, to carry out its charitable objectives. Due to the Coronavirus restrictions and precautions it was not possible to hold some of the usual religious functions and gatherings during the period of this report at 15 Stanley Avenue. Such gatherings were held through Zoom or YouTube live streaming, and were simultaneously broadcast on an Internet radio channel. After it became possible to hold functions at 15 Stanley Avenue, the online broadcasting was still continued and is now standard practice.

2. During Ramadan in April-May 2022, Dr Zahid Aziz produced his daily Quran Studies in text form, as he has done for several years, and these were circulated widely to Lahore Ahmadiyya community members internationally as well as to other interested Muslims. He also created video recordings of these Studies which were uploaded daily to a YouTube channel.

3. Eid-ul-Fitr on 2 May 2022 and Eid-ul-Adha on 9 July 2022 (this latter being just after the end of the period of this report) were the first major functions to be held at 15 Stanley Avenue since the lifting of the Coronavirus restrictions. These were well-attended and included nonMuslim guests. Social distancing was observed.

Maintenance of the Centre

While observing the precautions necessitated by Coronavirus, workmen continued to visit the Centre for maintenance, repair and renovation. Some window replacement work was done and the top floor flat in 15 Stanley Avenue was extensively renovated.

Literary work

1. The earlier 2019 publication, English Translation of Sahih Bukhari, volume 1, was reformatted in a larger page size (6 by 9 inches, 745 pages) and published through IngramSpark, as a print-on-demand book. As a result, it is available not only on Amazon but through other book retailers as well, such as Blackwells.

1. A previously online-only publication, A Handbook of Islam, was also revised and published through IngramSpark as a print-on-demand book.

2. Work was continued on revising and editing the section in Muhammad in World Scriptures (by Maulana Abdul Haq Vidyarthi) on Zoroastrian and Hindu scriptures.

3. Work continued on producing a new book, Introduction to the Holy Quran, which combines Maulana Muhammad Ali’s book Introduction to the Study of the Holy Quran and his Introduction in his English Translation of the Holy Quran into one merged book.

Websites

Development work continued on our websites:

1. www.ahmadiyya.org, which provides material and information on Islam and the Lahore Ahmadiyya Movement.

2. www.wokingmuslim.org, which chronicles the history of the former Woking Muslim Mission (1913–1968).

3. www.berlin.ahmadiyya.org, which both chronicles the history of the Berlin Mosque and Mission (established in the mid-1920s) and publishes reports on its current activities.
