THE ROOT 2022 REPORT.

One of our trustee Alex visited Kenya in December and had the privilege of spending ;me with our volunteers and hear their stories and what it mean for the to be part of The Root. He had the privilege of mee;ng the young boys na girls the we support through foot ball and “the keep the girl child in school project” he was inspired by the impact the support from the root has had. Some of this boys had the first opportunity to travel out side their town to play foot ball. Whilst he was there we were able to donate foot balls, goal nest, and first aid kits to the young team and the senior teams too. Alex had a chance to watch a couple of games and interact with the players. Alex held a mee;ng with the team leaders and discussed about various things such as the challenges they face living with poverty and figh;ng to keep the young boys away from crime and drugs and the young girls away from pros;tu;ons and early marriages.

As the root we are looking to suppor;ng them in 2023 as much as we can to make sure that young people stay in school and stay safe, and we are aiming to do this by providing everything they need to be playing foot ball, ie, helping with the pitch, providing first aid kits, helping with tournaments registra;ons and suppor;ng away games trips.

Alex also had a chance to meet with the elderly in the community and had a conversa;on of how we can best serve them, and some of the needs that came up was about suppor;ng a monthly club where they can come together and encourage one another over a cup of tea or a bowl of porridge. Food and cloths s;ll remains the biggest need they community has so most of the projects will be around feeding them.

CHRISTMAS MEAL

We held a Christmas meal party for the community where served over 100 plates of food and gave out 70 food hampers to the elderly. We had some friends and family visit from Nairobi to come and spend the day with them and brought them some giQs. It was encouraging to hear and see the impact out project has in Rubiri village.
