The trustees present their annual report and financlal statements for the year ended 31 March 2025.
The financial statements have been prèpared in accordance with the atttsLtnting policies Set out in note I to the
financial statements and comply with the charity's18overning documentl, the Charities Act 2011 and"Accounting
and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparirsg their accounts

Slgnificant artivitlès. achievements and performance
During the year, the charity has held various fundraising events and ,along wlth the donation received from
O'Brien Contrattors tirnited, has been able to rnake donations out to other various charities as declded by the
trustees.
Publlc beneflt
The Trustees confirm that they have complied with their duty under Secrion 4 of the Charities Act 2011 to have
due regard to the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit.
Voluntèers
The charity doe5 not utilise volunteers to assist with their work.
Financlal review
The net 105s for the period wo5 £2,130. comprising total incoming resources of £66,336. and total resources
expended of £68,466. Vhe charity'5 totsl funds for the period were a Surplus of £4,507.
Reserves policy
The TrL*Stees review the level of unrestricted reserves to ensure th3t they charity has Sufficient funds to meet
expenditure requlrement5. The TrLtstee5 consider that the current level of unrestricted reserves is adequate.

The charity IS Colltrolled by its governing document, a deed of trust and constitutes an unincorpDrJted charity.

I report to the trustees on my examlnation of the financlal statements of O'Brien Charitable Trust Ithe charity) for
the year ended 31 March 2025.

A5 the trustees of the charity you are responsible for the preparation of the financial Statements in accordance
with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act).
I report in re5pett of my examination of the charity's financial statements carrled out under section 145 Of the
2011 Acr. In carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity
Commission under section 14515llbl of the 2011 Act.

l understand that this has been done in Ofder for finaricial statements to provide a trup and fair view in
accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Practice effective for reportin8 periods beginning on tsr after I
January 2015.

Charfty Informatlon
O'Brien Charitsble Trust Is a unincorporated charity.
1.1 Accounttng convention
The financial statements have been prepared in 3c¢ordance with the charity's Igovernin8 documentl, the
Charities Act 2011, FRS 102 "The Financial Reporting StaThdard applicable in the UK and Republic of
Ireland" I"FRS 102,1 and the Charitie5 SORP "Accounting and Reporring by Charities.. Statement ol
Retommended Practice applicable to charikn'es preparing their account5 accordance with the Financlal
Reporhng Stsndard applicable in the UK and Republi¢ of Ireland IF￿ 1021 (Èffective l January 20191. The
charity is a Public Benefit Entity as delined by FRS 102.
The charity has taken advantage of the provisions In the SORP for charities not to prepare a Statement of
Cash Flows.
The financial statem8nts have departed from the Charities IAccounts and Reports) Regu13tions 2008 only to
the extent required to provide a true and fair view. This departure has Fnvolved following the Statement of
Recornmended Practice for charitie5 èpplying FRS 102 rather than the version tsf the Ststement of
Recornmended Practice which is referred to in the Regulations but which has since been wlthdrawn.
The financial statements are p￿pared in sterling, which is the functional currericy of the charity. Monetary
amounts in these financial statemErits are rounded to the nearest £.
The financial statements have been prepared under the hi5torlcal cost convention. The principal accounb.ng
policies adopted are set out below.
1.2 Charitable funds
Unrestricted funds are available for use at the di5rrÈtion ol the tTVStee5 in furtherance of their charitable
objÈckn"ves.
Restricted funds are sijbject to specific condtt£ons by donors or grantors as to how they may be sjsed. The
purposes 2nd Ltse5 of the restricted funds are set out the note5 to the Ilnancial statements.
Endowment funds are subject to specific Conditions by dorK)r5 that the capital rnust be maintsined by the
charity.
1.3 Incomè
Income is recognised when the charlty Is legally entitled to it after any performance conditions h*È been
met, the amounts can be measured reliably. and it is probable that income will bè received.
Cash donations are recognised on receipt. Other donations are rÈcognised once the charity ha5 been
notr'fied of the donation, unless performance conditions require deferfdl of the amount. Income tax
reeoverable in relation to donations received under Gift Aid or deeds of covenant 15 recognised at the time of
the donation.

Accounting policies

Legacies are recognised on reeeipt or otherwise if the charity has been notified of an impending distribLttion,
the amount is known, and receipt is expected. If the amount IS nQt known, the legacy is treated as a
contingent asset.
1.4 Expenditure
Expènditure is recogni5ed onee there 15 a leyl or constructive obligation to transfer economic b￿etit to a
third party, it Is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be rèquired in settlement, andthe amount
of the obligation can be measured reliably.
Expenditure 15 classified by activity. The costs of each activity are made up of the total of dIr￿t costs and
shared costs. Including support costs involved in urbdertèking eath activity. Direct costs 3ttr1buta￿e to a
single activity 3re allocated directly to that activity. Shared costs which contribute to more thanone activity
and support costs whith are not attributable to a single activSty are apportioned between those actwities on
a basis consistent with the use of Yesources. Central stsff costs are allocated on the ba9is of time spent, and
depreciation charges are allocated on the portion of the asset's use.
Development costs
1.5 Cash and cash equivalents
Cash and tash èquivalents include cash in hand, deposits held at ca51 with bank5, other short-term liquld
Investments with original maturities of three month5 or less, and bank overdrafts. BaAk overdraft5 are
shown within borrowings in current liabilities.

The charity has elected to apply the provi510ns of Section 11 'Basit Financial lftstrumentl and Section 12
'Other Finan¢lal Instruments Issues, of FRS 102 to all of Èts financial instruments.
Financial instrum2nts are recognised in the charity'5 balance sheet when the tharity become5 party to the
contractual provisions of the instrument.
Financial assets and liabilities are offset, wsth the net amounts presented in the financial statements. when
theie is a legally enforceable right to Set off the recogni5ed amounts and theie is an i¢)tention lo Settle on a
net basis or to realise the asset and settle the liability simultaneouslv.

transaction price inclajding transaction costs and are subsequently carried at amortised cost Using the

within one year are not amortised.
Debt instruments are subseq*Jently carried at amorhsed cost, using the effective interest rate method.
Trade creditors are obligations to pay for goods or 5efvices that have been acquired in the ordinary course of
operations from suppliers. Amounts payable are classiffiéd as current liabilities if payment is due within one
year or less. If not, they are presented a5 norFcurrent liabilities. Trade creditors are recognised initially at
transaction price and subsequently measured at amoftised c05t using the effective interest method.

Financial liabilities are derecognised when the chariws contractLtral obligations expire or are discharged or
cancelled.
1.7 Employee benefits
The cost of any Ltnused holiday entitlement 15 recognised in the period in which the employee's seryice5 are
received.
Termination benefits are recognised immediately as an expense when the charity is demonstrably
committed to terminate the employment of an employee or to provide termination benefits.
Crltlcal a£counting estlmate5 and judgements
In the application of the charity's accounting policies. the trusteès are required to make judgements,
estimate5 and assumptions about the carrying amount of assets and liabilTrties that are not readily apparent
from other sources. The èstimates and associated assumptions are based on historital experience and other
factors that are considered to be relevant. Actual results may differ from these estimates.
The estimates and Ltrnderlying assumptions are reviewed on an ongoing basls. Revision5 to accounting
estimates are recogni5ed in the period in which the estimate is revise¢J where the revision affettg (mly that
period, or in the period of the revision ènd fE*ture periods where the revision affetts both current and futyre
periods.
