|Summary of the main<br>achievements of the charity,<br>identifying the difference the<br>charity’s work has made to<br>the circumstances of its<br>beneficiaries and any wider<br>benefits to society as a<br>whole.|Para 1.20|**Following the constraints place upon us**<br>**by the Covid Pandemic, the Trustees are**<br>**proud to report the following actions of**<br>**the past year:**<br><br>**The Wills Project scheme initiated by**<br>**the Rural Community Council to**<br>**support residents to prepare CVs for**<br>**work and education activities**<br><br>**Assisting young people in their work**<br>**to achieve the Duke of Edinburgh**<br>**award**<br><br>**Continuing the activities of working**<br>**with Parents/Guardians in enabling**<br>**pre-school children to have a taste**<br>**for early learning in our Wriggly**<br>**Readers sessions**<br><br>**The library provides a facility for the**<br>**Local Area Co-ordinator of Social**<br>**Services, Leicestershire County**<br>**Council, enabling residents to have**<br>**confidential meetings in their own**<br>**locality**<br><br>**Enabling the Knit and Natter Club to**<br>**meet in the Library on every**<br>**Thursday. In conjunction with the**<br>**Desford Tapestry Group they have**<br>**been instrumental in skilled stitching**<br>**of the Tapestry – a historical image of**<br>**life within the Parish of Desford. We**<br>**have also agreed to be the base for**<br>**the finished tapestry when it is not**<br>**being shown in other venues**<br>**throughout the Parish and beyond.**<br><br>**We have regular liaisons with the**<br>**Primary and Secondary schools**<br>**within the area. We are presently**<br>**working with the Secondary School**<br>**on a mosaic project. Artwork from**<br>**each of the schools is regularly**<br>**displayed within the library**<br><br>**The library has been used as the**<br>**base for the newly created Heritage**<br>**Walks. We were instrumental in**<br>**gaining grant support to enable 16**<br>**Heritage Boards to be sited around**<br>**Desford Village. We acted as the base**<br>**for the successful 2-day Heritage**<br>**Festival that received over 10,000**<br>**visitors**<br><br>**The library was the base for the**|





**successful Scarecrow Festival held over 3-days on August Bank Holiday.**  **The library is the base for the Neighbourhood Plan Working Group who are now working on a review of the made Neighbourhood Plan. We will facilitate the public viewing and consultation of the Plan Review**  **During the year the library has been used by 2 local Book Clubs. Although recently one of these clubs meets in a private house**  **The library was used for the book launch for Caroline Wessel titled “Beaumanor War and Peace”**  **The library is the base for the Desford Parish Council, enabling residents to have direct access to their local Council**  **The library keeps a village diary and acts as a noticeboard for local activities**
