The Club is an autonomous body within Lions Clubs Intem8tion81. and any
use of the Club funds is approved by a simple majority of attendees at
Club meetings. and rdtified by a quonjm of Trustees.
The Club ensures that all adivities are ￿￿redy rnanaged and risk
assessments are completed for all major events. The Treasurer reviews
the financial rtsk assessment of each event and rewrts accordingly to the
TTUStees. A contingency sum is held in reserve lo minimise any risk to the
Club from fundratsing aGtivities.

In 2020121 the Club ran various on-line fiJnd-raising events to provKle
fvnds to assist those in need, induding through other ch8rites. In
addition the Club was fortunate to receive considerable support by
member and public donations. Additionalty the Club benefited from
govemment support provided through Guildford Borough Council.
A summary of the ty￿S of beneficiaries of these funds is shovm in
Section D below.
In deciding on these activtbes. and on how the resultant fijnds were
expended. the Trustees had regard to the guidance issued by Ihe Charity
Commission on the ne(￿ty for these acttwties to be for the public
benefit.

The on4ine events held induded.'-

and the O￿anS. Other events included c£wnpebbons.
There was a suC￿essful Christmas Appeal which was partialty funded by
a grant from Guildford Borough Council and enabled the Club to provide
400 supemarket vouchers to those most in need.
The fvnds raised and the donations received enabled the Club to meet
more of the requests for help re￿iVed than may have been expected. In
particular SUPFrt)rt totslling £5239 was prowded to Ioc81 food banks.

As a resutt of the pandemic tumover was substsnb'ally down in 2020121
but nevertheless the Club was able to function successfully.
On-line fundraising activthes, donations, members c￿tributIOnS and
grants re￿Ived provided a tolal income of£35,335 during the year.
From this In￿Me the club was able to cover the cost of the events.
manage ts affairs and provide £20.935 support to local indiwduals in
ne￿1 of help p￿S local chaiibes and intemational appeals through the
Lions Clubs Foundation.
In addition to the above expenditure sufficient funds were retained to
provide the next finanoal year a working balance to ensure our
nomal aclivities are ab￿ to continue. In particular the Club retsins the
financial Strength to enable major fundraising activilies to be undertaken
when pandemic reguktions pemiii.
The Club also promoted and supported the Lions Message in a Bottle
stheme through various lotsl surgeries and olher organisalions.
