The trustees have paid due regard 10 9uidarKe issued by the Chanty Commission in deciding vthat activities the
charity should undertake, and they are collertively aware of this guidance in ensuring that all their actions are for the

2023 h85 been a very busy and s￿￿ess￿l year for the Wght Aviatw Mu5eL¥n with a fvll season of operation wth
the museum open for vi&lors from April. when the High Sheriff, Kay MarrioiL fomiafiy 'Opened the Museum. in the
Spring which stayed open until ts end of October.
Many of our ongoing proied$ have continued arxl have been further developed throughoui the year and new
projeds added.
The WAM Schools & Education Prcfject
During 2023 the WAM Schools & Education Project has been further developed to make it more applicable lo the
National Curri¢ulum al KS1 & KS2. Tr WAM Educabon Team began ts year in February 2023 with a visit to
8roadlea Primary Schod lo do a day on 'Rothets".
Then throughout the Spring and Summer terms have had a number of schools ￿sit the museum for workshop
sessions on Rockets. Flight, and For￿9. These schoo15 Induded Barton. Newehurch and Broadlea.
The CC7 Cushion Craft ReSI￿at￿
2023 has seen the ¢ontinuation of the restr)ralion work on the CC7 Cvshion Craft and the big news cn this proiecl is
that the Cushion Craft has now been moved to a new. purpose buitt work and display area at the other end of"Ih8
green" right opposite to the main entranc£ to the museum.
The Spitfire Project
A large hand built 115th scale model of a Mk9 Spitfire was donated to the museum by Geoffrey Hall from Seaview.
This has rthy been developed into wonderful display about the 'A￿￿OrnY and Developrnent. of the world famous
Spiffire alrcraft.
It includes many smaller models of different Ma￿S arKI V￿ants of Spiffire and 'an Okl and Nevf fuselage 'Frame
11- part construded and donated bY￿rfraMeAsseMblle$. have a fackny on the other side ofthe airport.
The Spartan Project
A major NEW pfoiect which be9￿ in 2023 is the"Spartan Prqecf vknere WAM is planning to bring the last example
of a 3 seater Simmons Spartan air¢faft, whieh was built in Sommerton Works. Cowes in 1933. which is Gurrently ID
New Zealand. The current owner of ZK-ARH is Rod Hall-Jones. a renowneo hell￿pIer ￿[01 worked extensively
wth Jacques Cousteau operating a flying film ship for his TV series. He
purchased Ihe badty damaged air¢xaft in 1994 and spent 11 years restoring it to fying condition with it's Its original
Cirrus Hermes Engine being rebuilt in 2005.
A Spartan Project Team are now well undeDNay vith strategic planning and fundraising lo bring this aircraft to
WGHT AVIATION MUSEUM vthich is the rightful relirefflenl home for this Spartan.
A spwal VIP virAlor Ken &lis from FtyPast magazine.
In July the Wghl Aviation Museum Team had the great pleasLtre lo welcome a well kn¢)wn and highly respected
'Aircraft Preservation Guru", avid Historian. Renovmed Author & Magaine Editor. Ken Ellis.
Former editor for many years of the well known 'Flypasl" magazine, he is autlY)r of the btrannual Wecks and
Relics. firsl puuished in 1961. n¢M in its 281h edition and is regarded by awatw)n enthusiasts and the airrxaft
preseNation community as ils 'bible." Ken was shown around the museum by members of the WAM Team was
very impressed with what the WAM Team have achieved in just a few years.

Shedlesl
Another "ShedFesi' event is being planned for next Summer on 29th and 30th June which il is hoped will be as
successful as the last one and wll bring togelher all the varic¥Js Men In Sheds groups lo showcase their varied
activities across the Island and recruit new members.
WAM Volunteers
The WAM Team of volunteers have been very busy during Ihe5e 'off season. months (while the museum is closed
lo the public) working hard to repair and build new exhibtts and displays to be ready for next Spring when we will
again ¢)pen lo the public for the "2024 Season.. Of course we a￿ always looking for new volunteers bolh for the
construction and development work btrt also as museum visitor guides in the new year when we re-open in early
April 2024.
GKN Team Day at the Wghl Aviation Museum
We were delighted to host GKN Aerospace "Europe Defen￿ Group". for a team day event where 30+ Staff
attended from across Ihwr UK sites. The group I￿k part in rarye of aviation themed aclwilies to strengthen team
working 8s well as enjoyed a VR flight over the Isle of W9ht in our Bull Dog fltght simulator.

The Ops Room
The'Op5 Room. has ￿)ntinued lo prove its V￿rth throughout the year as a venue for 8 variety of adivities. Regular
monthly users are the 'Velerans' who hold their monthly meetings there. Il's frequently used by the Airport Tower

Flnanclal review
For the year ended 31 D￿ember 2023 the charity had income of £36.442 (2022 - £21.849) and expenditure of
£25.653 (2022 - £20.588) leaving a surplus of £12.47312022- £1.261>-
The totsl baance of funds al the year was £71,166 {2022 - £58.6931. 01 the total fvnds, £63,392 {2022
£36.5921 was invested in the museum collection. and £30.868 of these assets remain subject to restrictions. Th¢
remaining restricted funds will be incurred on orvjoing development projects al the museum.
The charity has £27,918 of free reserves12022 - £20.629). Free reserves are unrestricted funds not tied up on fixed
assets.
G￿ng concem
The Charity is caub'ous in commenung projects and incurring expendiiure until funds we available. given that th
organisalion is in its infancy, and is developing the museum and its artelacts. The charty has suffered wth delays lo
opening caused by the pandemic. although it has benefftted with support grants from the I￿al authority, and
agreement for a fijrther year al nil rent from ts base al Sandown IW Airport. The Iruslees are confident that in
following their development ptans the ehanty rem&n a going CO￿ for the next fvlelve months.
ReseNes policy
It Is the poli￿ of the charity that unrestrided fvnds ￿1th have not been dwnaled for a specific use should be
maintsined at a level equivalent lo befv4een three and six month's expendrture. The trust￿$ consider5 that reserves
at this level will ensure that. in the event of a significant drop in funding, they wll be able to continue the charl￿5
urr&nl activrties while Considerati￿ is given to ways in 7Athich addibonal fvnds may be rased. This level of reserves
has been maintained Ihroughout the year.

for discussions ty the Trustees. For govemance purposes there are rules for attendance and other maters for

The financial statements have been prepared in accordance wth the tharity's memorandum and articles the
Companies Act 2006 and "Accounting and Repth'ng by Charities". Slalement of Recommended Practice
applicable lo charities preparing their accounts in accordance wth the Finanaal Reporting Standard
applicable in the UK and RepU￿•C of Ireland IFRS 1021. {8s amended for a￿OUntIng persods commencsng
from 1 January 2019). The charity is a PUNIC Benefit Enlty as defined by FRS 102.
The charity has tsken advantage of the prwsions in the SORP for tharities applying FRS 102 Update
Bulletin 1 not to prepare a Statement of Cash Flows.

At the time of approving the financial statements, Ihe trustees have a Teasonable expectation thal the chaTbty
has adequate resources to ￿ntInUe in operational e￿Stence for the foreseeable future. Thus the Iruslee5
continue to adopt the going corKem basis of accounting in preparing the financial statements. The Trustees
monitor eX￿ndItUre on proj¥as and only commence projects and activities when that fijnding is in place.
1.3 Charitable funds
Unreslricte<l lunds are available for use al the disuetion of the Irustees in furtherance of their char¢table
objedives.
Restricted fijnds are sul¥ect to spechffic conditions by donors c* grantor5 a5 to how they may be used. The
purp￿$ and uses of the reslrided funds are set ¢yJt in the notes to the financial slatemenls.
1.4 Incoming resOU￿t$
Income is recognised when the charity is legally entitled lo il after any performance condrtions have been mel.

Cash donations are recognised on r￿1p1. Other donabons are reccgnised onc? the charity has been notified
of the donation, unless performance conditions require deferral of Ihe amount. Income tax recoverable in
