"Kings Award forvolunteering 2023"

widows corne io us for company and then choose to volunteer to hdp with our elder less able members. Through the
Rainbow Cafe and our open events people cDnne¢t and re￿nnect and build new nehvork5. We try not to trade on
palhos or guilt We off8r an upbeat environmn¢ open access that engages tt)e whole community - young to old- farnities
to singleions.
Experienc8d Social PreS(￿berS often recommend volunteering wrth us to thelr patients. We hav8 5 of these train8d up
as befrienders in our Visiting service ancl one helping wth events.
Widowed M8n ar8 notoriousty drfficult to ￿a¢h out to and befriend, evw tth)ugh they are often very lonety and dispirited.
We have d8veloped pathways to engage with them and attract them into our arena.
Very elderfy couples, 85 plus living independendy and 5ti11 SUPPDrting ea¢h oth¢r. are so vulnerable to loss can be
attracted into our orbit to develop tw*ed relatiorsships.. so we can provide pathway5 tts frfendships and suppjrt netsvoths

Th8 Charity h85 worked hard to increase the awareness of tts wotk Iwalty to eneourage a wider range of income
streams from the pU￿1C and h)cal busin8S8. And ha5 successfully partnered with local organisations to provKle
addition81 services. Grants S￿11 play a key role in the charity'5 lunding.
Surrey Heath Age Con￿￿ CIO is one of the few local Servi￿ providers that receives re￿nue gr8nts to help support ts
work from SutTey Heath Borough Council ISHBCI. The grant for the provision of se￿iceS in 2024r25 was £10,000 8nd
this was helpfully ring fenced for a second year 2025126. The grant is actively manag8d through the Extemal Partner5hlp

Frotn the vlbrant Tea & Memories group and the ddlghtful Sunday lunthes at Cambertey Manor Care Home to the
ever*rowiro Mens Breakfast Club and the newly estatAish8d Knit & Natter Group, our efforts have 5ignifKandy
enhan¢Èd the sens8 of community anLI provided muth-needed S￿la1 interacbon for our pattiGipaftts. Our agility dasses
and Visiting & Befrydnding programmes conbnue to make a positive impa¢t, thanks to the detSi¢ath)n of our volunteers.
For the flnanclal year 1 April 2024 to 31 Mar¢h 2025, Surrey Heath Age Con¢em CIO managed both r8Stricte(l and
unrestricted funds to support Ihe deliv8ry of ts ch arstable a¢tivitie$.

welkbeing of our parts(#pants.
