|Summary of the purposes of<br>the charity as set out in its<br>governing document|Para 1.17|**The purposes of Breast Friends York (BFY) remain the**<br>**same as per our constitution.**<br>The objects of the CIO are:<br>For the relief of people in York and the surrounding areas who have<br>had a breast cancer diagnosis at any point in their lives in particular<br>but not exclusively by;<br>Providing a variety of supportive, accessible and inclusive<br>environments to enable members to build a network of peer<br>support.<br>Providing opportunities to explore and discuss the range of issues,<br>emotions and feelings related to a breast cancer diagnosis and<br>subsequent treatment.<br>Promoting awareness of the available local and wider support and<br>advice networks.<br>Utilising peer support to facilitate members in the development of<br>resilience and coping strategies.|

Mostly these evening meetings are a chance<br>for members to come together to talk about life and life with<br>cancer.<br>Our monthly lunches are well attended and give a chance for|





|||members to connect and chat and support each other<br>through life with and beyond cancer.<br>Sewn with Love workshops have met 10 months out of 12<br>and have made around 600 pillows and 350 drain bags which<br>have been donated to the hospital.<br>We celebrated our 9th birthday with an afternoon tea at<br>Impossible in April. At Christmas we had a meal out to<br>celebrate.<br>Our online secure chat group, birthday club and<br>telephone line have continued to operate throughout the year.<br>We have maintained our website and social media presence<br>including Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. Work continues<br>on updating our website.<br>We had a fundraising craft stall at the Dragon Boat Race<br>event in the summer as well as  a stall at a dog show in<br>September.<br>Yoga session started up in February with a slow start of ⅔<br>members attending. The situation is being monitored and<br>reviewed.|

All trustees have<br>played a part in fundraising activities, running stalls,<br>providing support to existing and new members and<br>communicating with all members as well as manning the<br>phone lines. Sam continues to allow us to use her garage|





to store our resources and equipment which is very convenient and saves us a lot of money. Tracie, our treasurer, has managed our accounts and works with the chair to ensure invoices are paid. She also provides any technical support any of us need in undertaking our duties. Sally has been running the the Luncheon Club and has arranged both the Christmas and Birthday celebration events. She also has played a key part in arranging and manning our fundraising efforts. Chris has supported Zoe with running the Sewn with Love group. Zoe has been working on developing the website, purchasing resources, paying invoices, supporting the Sewn with Love group and has arranged speakers for the evening meetings, whilst Barbara (not trustee) has helped with arranging evening meetings.. Sam has administered the Facebook birthday club, set agendas and created meeting minutes, managed our membership as well as a whole host of other administrative duties. Lucy has been working on a grand funding bid and supported the BOT meeting by hosting. Other

Our only stalls was at<br>the Dragon Boat racing where we raised £170.42, at a<br>fitness fair where we raised £106 and a Dog Show where<br>we raised £30.<br>We have continued to see a number of donations made<br>as a result of people receiving our heart pillows.<br>600 Heart Pillows and 350 Drain bags have been<br>delivered to the hospital and these continue to be well<br>received, with many notes of thanks being sent to us.<br>We have received a number of private donations from a<br>range of members of the public and were the recipient of|





funds raised by a local fitness group, which we in turn, referred one of our ladies to and a local art show. . We have seen a steady flow of new members joining us this year with one joining us with the support of her social prescriber. The members have benefitted from a pair of free season tickets to York City FC this season to treat themselves and their family and friends. All but 2 of the home matches were attended by 12 different members.
