Lincoln Road Chapel
Trustees Annual Report for year ending 31[st] December 2024
Aim and Purposes
The principal purpose of the Church is the advancement of the Christian faith in accordance with Membership Fundamentals. The Church may also advance education and carry out other charitable purposes in the United Kingdom and/or other parts of the world.
The Trustees are also specifically responsible for the maintenance of the Church buildings, the manse at 70 Sutherland Road and the adjacent flats (Beaufort House) at 442 Lincoln Road.
Objectives and Activities
The Trustees are committed to enabling as many people as possible to worship at our church and to become part of the community at LRC. The Trustees maintain an overview of worship in the Church and make suggestions on how our services can involve the many groups that live within the local area. Our service and worship put faith into practice through prayer and Scripture, music and teaching.
When planning our activities for the year, the Trustees have considered the Charity Commission guidance on public benefit, and particularly the guidance on charities for the advancement of religion. To this end we try to enable ordinary people to live out their faith as part of our church community through:
-
Regular public worship, prayer, Bible study, preaching and teaching.
-
Communion of the Lord’s Supper which shall normally be observed once a week.
-
Evangelism and mission, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
-
Nurture and growth of Christian disciples.
-
Giving and encouraging pastoral care.
-
Supporting and encouraging charitable social action in the United Kingdom and abroad.
-
Encouraging relationships with and supporting other Christians.
To facilitate this work, it is important that we maintain the fabric of the Church and buildings
Achievements and Performance
Worship and Prayer
The Trustees were keen to offer a range of services during the week and over the course of the year that our community find both beneficial and spiritually fulfilling. This includes Bible Study and Prayer Meetings for committed Christians, Gospel and outreach meetings for those exploring the faith. Our Morning Meeting is run in conjunction with a Junior Church to enable and encourage Families with Children to attend.
This year also saw the resumption of a Youth Meeting for those aged 11 to 16, initially this will be once a month whilst we gauge interest. Also, the midweek Connect Meeting has resumed; to pray, open Gods word and share lunch. Both meetings were halted by COVID.

Trustees Annual Report for year ending 31[st] December 2024
The Church holds a variety of events that have a common element of ‘food’, this included two Fellowship Meals following the Sunday Morning Service, two Afternoon Teas in the Summer, two Mens Breakfasts and two Ladies Breakfast. These are intended as an outreach, but also to encourage interaction and a feeling of community within our congregation.
The Church continues to maintain an online presence, publishing a meeting on You Tube every other Sunday and holding a weekly Zoom Meeting for Prayer and Bible Study. We have a WhatsApp Group and Weekly Newsletter to circulate prayer requests and keep the congregation in touch and aware of developments.
All are welcome to attend our regular services. At present the Church has 36 members, with an average attendance on the Sunday Morning Meeting of between 40 and 50 people.
The Church Buildings
The Trustees completed a programme to overhaul the Church owned buildings during 2022-23. As a result, only minimal maintenance work was required this year, whilst the upgraded flats supply a good income and are beginning to repay that outlay.
Pastoral Care
During the week the Rear Hall was used by our Toddlers group on Thursday. We have approximately 15-20 children for each session (morning and afternoon).
Some members of the Church were unable to attend meetings due to sickness or age. Pastor Paul Fellows regularly undertook home and hospital visits to any who require this.
The Church have been looking to hire an Associate Minister to help Paul, we have engaged Pastor Dustin Pruett on a part time basis, with the hope that he will become full-time in due course.
Mission and Evangelism
We demonstrated our faith by giving to those in need. Although the Church does not take a collection there are boxes at the back of the Church for those who wished to donate in that way. Any donations made to the Church on the 1[st] Sunday of each month were given to charitable causes. Regular recipients included Tear Fund, FEBA Radio, CAM International and Open Doors UK. The Church also responded to specific appeals.
Financial Review
The Church Finances remained in a satisfactory position. The assembly is dependent on donations made by the Church members and other donors, which for the year ending 31[st] Dec. 2024 totalled £85,754. Other main incomes are Rent from Beaufort House (£28,100), Gift Aid receipts (£10,862), Toddler Group Fees (£2,137) and Interest on investments (£1,776).
Page 2
Lincoln Road Chapel
Trustees Annual Report for year ending 31[st] December 2024
Total expenditure (£57,812) was less than income by £71,074, there are two main factors responsible for this. Firstly a ‘one-off’ donation (not Gift Aided) of £30,000; secondly an increase in the Beaufort House rental receipts due to the work done in 2022/23. All accounts are prepared using Finance Coordinator software in accordance with SORP (FRS 102) standards.
Reserves Policy
The Trustees agreed to increase the balance to £25,000 in the reserve fund, this being part of the £35,000 currently held in National Savings income Bonds. This equates to at least three months unrestricted payments
Volunteers
The work was sustained by the good will of the members who give of their time, skills and money so willingly to enable this ministry to continue.
Structure, governance and management
The Lincoln Road Chapel is a registered charity (Number 1175925). The Churches Constitution (adopted 19[th] November 2017) details the management and governance of the church. The governing body of the church is the board of trustees, currently comprising of four people. The Charity Trustees are responsible for the governance and daily running of the Church acting according to the will of God as discerned by the Church Members’ Meeting and subject to any specific or general directions of the Church Members’ Meeting.
The Trustees meet most weeks to discuss matters arising from the day to day running of the church. Regarding spiritual matters, the pastor and elders may provide guidance and advice as may be necessary from time to time. The full membership of the church meets three times a year to consider all matters of general concern including deciding on how the funds of the church are to be spent.
Special church members meetings can be called should this be deemed necessary.

General Information Continued
The cooperative relationship between Lincoln Road Chapel’s accounting software, Donation Coordinator, Bright Pay, and Finance Coordinator has resulted in Charity’s various reports accurately reflecting its financial standing, including the most important Statements of Financial Activities, Balance Sheet, and Trustees' Reports.
Notably, all transactions in the online Reports are verifiable, with
minor/allowable discrepancies only, and can be traced to their source through manual checks/verifications, rather than automatically by hovering over. An upgrade of the Finance Coordinator accounting software will provide easier access to the transaction source, benefiting the collation of data and integration with supporting software.
Manual Files of Lincoln Road Chapel that are equally part of compliance, comprise receipts, bank statements, donor records, etc and complement the online accounts, contributing to a clear understanding of the Charity’s finances.
Further changes are being implemented to enhance the interpretation of accounts at any point in time.
Both Manual and Online Records are prepared with care, are verifiable, present financial information and the Charity’s works as per the purposes highlighted in the Governing document (Constitution adopted 19 November 2017), and to serve the public benefit.
