New Connexions Free Church Trustees Report June 2020 to June 2021
Members Meetings
NCHB held 5 trustees’ meetings during the accounts period – 27.7.20, 24.9.20, 19.5.21, 16.6.21 and 14.7.21. There was a gap in meeting as trustees (October to April) due to the Covid Lockdown restrictions.
An Extraordinary Church meeting was held on 28[th] June 2021 for all church members. This was scheduled to chat through and make decisions about the future of the church based on difficulties faced through lockdown/ lack of pastor in leadership team. Mr. David Lockett (Trustee of the Connexions churches) was invited to attend the meeting to oversee any decisions made and to support the discussion. The church family voted to continue to worship together and to resume services at NCHB in Larkfields as soon as possible.
Worship Services
Due to Covid restrictions and the period of lockdown, weekly online services were provided during this year that included songs, prayers, a reading and a sermon. Guest speakers/ley preachers and members of the congregation lead the teaching within the church. The trustees and church family pass on their thanks for this valuable and spirit-led teaching.
Other Church meetings
During the Lockdown, where it was not possible to meet up in person, prayer groups and some of the house groups continued weekly using the Zoom online facility.
As restrictions were lifted a church picnic was organized to meet up socially as a church family. This took place in Paradise Park on June 13[th] 2021.It was an opportunity to fellowship together.
Pastor Role
Rev Keith Waters resigned from leading NCHB in March 2020. He remained preaching and worshipping online at the church until 22[nd] September 2020 when he moved on to lead his new church in Carshalton, London. The trustees thank him again for his commitment and love shown to all the church family during his time at NCHB.
Outreach/Groups within the church
Unfortunately, due to Covid guidelines, it has not been possible to provide any opportunities for Outreach. It has also not been possible to run the Sunday school groups or the Over 60’s monthly meeting.
Missionary Work
New Connexions continued, through this period, to support various missionary organizations in their work to provide for needs and to share the gospel. Regular donations were made to The Barnabas Fund, The Sierra Leone Mission and Tear Fund.
Finances
The finances of the church are as recorded in the accounts statement. Income came from contributions given freely by the church members and congregation. With God’s grace the church was able to fully meet all its financial commitments and to donate regularly to missionary work.
