Structure, Governance and Management** The Centre for Democracy and Peace Research (CDPR) is a registered charity governed by its constitution and operated in accordance with Charity Commission guidance and applicable charity law. Trustees are appointed in accordance with the governing document and are responsible for the strategic direction, governance, financial management and overall supervision of the charity. Trustees are provided with appropriate guidance and support to ensure they understand their legal duties and responsibilities. The charity has no paid employees. All activities are carried out by trustees and volunteers, enabling the organisation to maximise the use of its resources in pursuit of its charitable objectives. ## **3. Objectives and Activities** The principal objective of CDPR is the advancement of human rights, democracy, and social and cultural rights, particularly in relation to Turkey and communities affected by human rights challenges. During the reporting period, CDPR continued to promote dialogue, research, and cooperation among civil society organisations, academics, human rights defenders and community stakeholders. The charity worked to strengthen awareness of democratic values and human rights issues while supporting collaboration and knowledge sharing across civil society networks. The charity's activities included: - Supporting the development of civil society initiatives and projects. - Facilitating networking and cooperation among NGOs, researchers and community organisations. - Promoting discussion and awareness of human rights, democratic governance and social inclusion. - Encouraging research and dialogue aimed at strengthening democratic participation and civic engagement. The trustees confirm that they have considered the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit and are satisfied that the charity's activities have provided public benefit in furtherance of its charitable purposes. ## **4. Achievements and Performance** During the year, CDPR maintained its organisational capacity and continued engagement with civil society partners despite operating in a challenging funding environment. The charity sustained relationships with stakeholders and supporters and continued to provide a platform for dialogue, cooperation and exchange of knowledge on issues relating to democracy, human rights and social inclusion. Although activities were undertaken on a modest scale due to limited financial resources, the trustees believe that maintaining the charity's network, visibility and organisational infrastructure represents an important achievement and provides a foundation for future growth. The trustees continued to explore opportunities for collaboration, project development and fundraising to strengthen the charity's future impact. ## **5. Financial Review** The charity reported: - Total income: £0 - Total expenditure: £862 - Net deficit for the year: £862 At 1 September 2025: - Cash at bank and in hand amounted to £2,069. - Creditors falling due within one year amounted to £1,169. - Total reserves stood at £900. Administrative expenditure was reduced compared with the previous year, reflecting the trustees' continued efforts to minimise operating costs and preserve resources. The principal expenditure related to accountancy and general administrative costs. ## **Reserves Policy** The trustees aim to maintain unrestricted reserves sufficient to meet governance and administrative obligations and to ensure continuity of operations during periods when external funding is limited. While reserves decreased during the year as a result of the operating deficit, the trustees remain satisfied that the charity has adequate resources to continue operating and fulfilling its charitable objectives. ## **6. Plans for the Future** Over the coming year, CDPR intends to: - Develop new partnerships with academic institutions, civil society organisations and human rights networks. - Seek grant funding and charitable donations to support programme delivery. - Expand research, policy dialogue and public engagement activities. - Strengthen organisational sustainability and fundraising capacity. - Continue promoting democratic values, human rights and social inclusion through research, dialogue and collaboration.
