We focus on families who might
already have identified stressors on
the care-giving relationship, such as
single young parents, homelessness,
addiction or having been a looked
after child or appear to be coping, yet
an assessment reveals multiple
strains and barriers to good enough
parenting.
DorPIP works holistically with families,
statutory providers and third
sector organisations to provide early
help in the community, through
specialist parent-infant therapy that is
not available elsewhere. Families are
seen by our multidisciplinary team
according to their needs and goals for
improving the parent infant
relationship. This may be a
combination of counselling, group
infant massage classes and peer led
support groups.

In our third year the therapeutic work
has been focussed on working online
due to the social restrictions in place

Nationwide health professionals have
identified five main areas of risk in

These risks are due to the harm to
mental health and wellbeing of their
parents caused by social isolation,
financial shock, pressures juggling
childcare and work, unsafe living
environments, illness/bereavement,
Covid-19 anxiety and limited access
to services. Since June 2020 we have
seen a 96% uplift in our services -
more and more families are coming to
us for our support. Local infants are
experiencing the hardships just as
much as the adults. Main care givers
are telling us that increased feelings

of sadness, anxiety and isolation are making it extremely difficult to feel bonded and attached to their infant which has led to infants being less able to settle, have increased sleep disruption and digestive issues. Feedback from our service users this year has been that we have provided a "life line" when all other services for babies and toddlers were closed. We recognised the loneliness and isolation families have experienced and as a result we have reached out to more people through our social media outlets. Our messaging has been supportive and understanding and always encouraging people to contact us directly if they need further support. In this last year our social media followers have increased by 200%. We recognised the need for new parents and babies to have the opportunity to socialise, despite government guidelines advising against social get togethers. We joined forces with local attachment led infant massage classes to pilot on line courses. Reaching out to our service users ensured these classes were fully booked and well attended. Year on year the number of families using our service increased by just over 100%. Moving sessions online meant more fathers were able to attend and engage in the sessions. We believe the online sessions have also meant that families have been able to engage as geographical barriers have been removed. Using the professional Zero to Three Diagnostic Classification of Mental Health and Developmental Disorders of Infancy and Early Childhood diagnostic tool our Clinical Therapists have ascertained that on entry into the service _39% of parents have a ‘Compromised to Disturbed Relationship’_ and _61% have a ‘Strained to Concerning Relationships’._ On exit from the service _83% have a ‘Well-Adapted to Good-Enough Relationship’_

## **Financial Review**

Review of the charity’s Para 1.21 Whilst the Trustees have no formal
financial position at the policy for Reserves, during the
end of the period financial year DorPIP received
£68,930.88 from H2H with these
funds to be restricted and to be used
for clients who have endured Adverse
Childhood Experiences. As a result,
the Board has felt it prudent to set
aside £50k of these funds on a
separate Bank account and for these
to be called upon when necessary to
support DorPIP’s work under the
agreed terms of usage.

on securing further grant income and
ideally matching this through
fundraising activities including
sponsorship and donations to meet
the ongoing costs of proving our
services.
